Re: How do conlangers devise names for their conlangs?
The name of my conlang Missa is pretty old (around 7 or 8 years old), and comes from a bastardized coded form of the word 'English'. If I had to retcon it for what it literally means in the language now, it means 'caves' or 'dens', so I suppose that would reflect where the speakers would live.

Re: Small phonetic range?
I think your set of fricatives is interesting viz. the voicing. You have /v θ s ʒ ʃ/ from what I can tell. /ʒ ʃ/ is the only pair of fricatives which contrast by voicing; the other three do not, and /v/ (instead of [f]) seems a tad odd. But that doesn't mean there can't be an explanation for what yo...

Re: Dentals (and Alveolars) [split from the Q&A Thread]
I speak English natively and (some) French, so when I speak either language I can articulate the coronal plosives correctly (alveolar in English, dental in French). However, in isolation, I cannot hear the difference when I speak them, although I can somewhat feel the difference. And of course, I ca...

Thanks to this thread, I found that I had a pretty big problem in one of my conlang's relativization strategies. Thanks! Hopefully I can sort it out somehow now.

Re: What did you accomplish today?
I've noticed that the current system of forming relative clauses in Missa causes ambiguity between which argument is patient and which is agent, which is... a pretty big problem. I think I can fix it if I have some sort of anaphoric pronoun for the agent in the nested clause, but I'll have to do som...

I've never really thought about just how different regional Italian languages could be before. I'm glad you're working on this at whatever pace best suits you!
