Re: Star Trek Ferengi Language by Timothy Miller and David Salo from 1995

I know that most of their names tend to be monosyllabic, so their syllable structure is probably very complex, I would imagine Counterpoint: Quark is the son of Keldar. The names we have include Quark, Rom, Keldar, Nog, Tog, Zek, Mookie (which admittedly is, IIRC, a nickname), and Brunt. If they do...

So some world maps and stuff, mainly focusing on the Tim Ar Imperium. GPlates was used to crunch the numbers, where relevant, but these are still approximate values. A world map; pardon the eye-searing colors, this was more so I could get a feel for how things worked out. Some of these are not indiv...

Bob, I have to say, jimmydog000 is correct. On fora such as this one, there are certain conventions that are, while not strictly speaking required, then at least strongly recommended and encouraged. You may not be on the Internet all the time, but when you’re in Rome, it’s good to do as Romans do. Y...

Re: Linguifex's conworld megathread

Is it possible that “cent” and “canton” are related in your concountry? Is a “canton” (in the Swiss sense) like a “hundred” (in the Medieval English sense, a unit of local government)? Just because Kmtom kinda sounds like both. Probably not, but you never know. I haven't really gotten that far with...

Administrative Divisions of the Kmtön n Tim Ar (subject to change) mkîȝ ( pl. mkîȝ ar ) – roughly 'region'. There are eleven: Éí , Entáhtórula , Ïĝuntá , Krníĝ , Lákðor , Mrkás , Seksín , Sínsio , Tikát , Uêlmi , and ʕëkoð . ȝôtáʕ ( pl. uȝétáʕ ) – roughly 'province', 'state', or 'oblast'. There are...

Re: On making a conscript that doesn't suck.

Especially logographic conscripts are extremely lame. But a lot of things that I look for in logographic writing systems, I discovered within the past 15 years. It's all these little things that nobody even knows to look for. I am aware this is an opinion, but I take offense to that. I worked hard ...

I believe he meant “this board is more receptive to your style of posting” and wasn’t making a statement about your posting frequency. It’s an idiom.

In a hieroglyphic-esque system (à la Mayan), assume a series of phonetic complements that can attach to the glyphs. Is it reasonable that these complements could begin to stand alone and form the basis of a syllabary, or is that implausible?

I’ve been working on a descendant of Caber script. I tried to post the images but I guess they are height-restricted now and I’m on mobile, so a link will have to do: https://imgur.com/a/JQPeiA5
Edit: The age-verification thing is just recent imgur policy. The photos I linked are SFW.
