Re: Proto-Vidar: A beginner's conlanguage
I was looking back through my posts and I realized that I did an absolutely horrible job of defining the declension types of Proto-Vidar. Also, I have noticed a lot of inconsistencies with words, that's because I forgot to note some of them down and subsequently forgot they exist, same thing with th...

Re: Yeberut: A Greco-Slavic inspired companion to Proto-Vida
If it's isolating, how can it have a "strict case and gender system" I mean strict in the sense that it is rather tight on what it affects, the case system only extends to nouns and the gender system only affects adjectives. Yeberut conjugates its verbs for, past, present, future, remote ...

Yeberut: A Greco-Slavic inspired companion to Proto-Vidar
So, I will personally dive into the meat of the language before I go into who speaks it. Yeberut has a relatively large number of consonants, and an average number of vowels(in my opinion) The consonants are Fricatives: f/v/θ/ð/s/z/ɣ/ʃ/ʒ <f/v th dh s z x sh zh Plosives: p/b/k/g/t/d <p b k g t d > Ap...

Constructive criticism on conlangs
So, I had an idea for a thread where each week we take a conlang(any conlang) , and people can say what they like and dislike about that conlang without starting a flame war, hopefully. Within this thread anything within the language can be discussed, its speakers, its grammar, word order, vocabular...

Re: Proto-Vidar: A beginner's conlanguage
So, I have spent the last week or two detailing some of the history of the Vidar. The dating system starts with the creation of the city-states of the bukreta. Another thing is horses don't exist in this world, there are some familiar animals, but many are different and I will give a brief explainat...

Re: Very early invention of magitech robots/AI
I would ask myself three questions about this civilization: How militant are they? Basically would the powers that be use them for war, because mass produced robots would be much easier to control than a human. If the robots have feelings, personalities, desires etc. How does society view them being...

Re: 日本語を学ぼう Learn Japanese
I'm trying to understand the latest one, and I had a question about the "type" ones. Could you use them to describe a type of people that you disagree with, as in the sentence "あんな人は好きじゃない"? Also how does the "method" one differ from the particle で which I learned to ro...

Re: Thoughts on a Prototype Conworld
I can answer a few things about the south continent. It does in fact extend into the southern temperate zone, and a little into the tropical zone with its northernmost tip. The lower part of the southern continent is also largely flat, despite it having tons of mountains just 45,000 years ago. This ...

Thoughts on a Prototype Conworld
http://i.imgur.com/79Y1ZBt.png So, I recently began making a conworld for my two current languages and concultures to reside on. The planet itself is only slightly smaller than the Earth is, but it is slightly heavier, because it has a larger amount of metals on it than Earth does. This is the seco...

I was wondering if I could ask for some help with kinship terms, because my lexicon appears to be completely lacking on those. ^^;

Also, I have to congratulate you guys on creativity with the sound system, some of these combinations I might have overlooked based on my natural sound bias.
Again, thank you all very much for helping me!

Re: ’iiƞìm Lexical Participation
And wouldn't nu’ata be u’ataat? I was thinking that u'ataat would be hard to pronounce, and tried to come up with some way that could be substituted for the at, that would be easier to pronounce, maybe adding n to the stat of a vowel that begins with a and ends with a, could function the same as th...

Re: Proto-Vidar: A beginner's conlanguage
Another lesson! When talking about other people, using the 2nd person plural form with them is considered rude, not polite. Using I in it's nominative form is also considered condescending in Proto-Vidar Also, I thought it would be nice to give you guys a concrete reference for the declensions and c...

Re: Proto-Vidar Lexical Participation
The words have been added to the dictionary!
vajokul vi. sail
I thought that this could be a loanword from their trading partner the Bukreta who would be more familiar with sailing than the land-locked Vidar, but it's up to you.
