Re: CBB Conlang Relay XII - FINISHED!!

This was fun! I hope I don't miss the sign-ups for the next one. Any idea on when they might begin? For the last few years I’d say we’ve averaged two relays a year. One in the summer and another in the winter holiday period. There is however nothing stopping people from organising relays at other t...

Re: What languages influence your conlangs?

Awatese is from an in-world language, but takes its inspiration from Austronesian and Amazonian languages. Honestly it's hard to tell at this point though lol

Canocua is obv from Iroquoian languages and I strive to achieve that general aesthetic with it

Canocua verbs, slot 1: prepronominal prefixes

Yikes, I have really neglected this thread, haven't I? I don't usually post on forums. Gotta set reminders for this stuff [:3] Anyway, after a couple of days of procrastination rigorous conlanging, I present the first part of the verb template. The Iroquoian languages, including Proto-Iroquoian and ...

Re: Canocua verb template, version 1

While I get the rest of the verb morphology sorted out, here's the general structure of the verb in Canocua. This is great! I am curious about templatic morphology or slot-and-filler morphology. I’m interested in the semantics of some of these! Do nouns also have a template? What about adjectives, ...

Canocua verb template, version 1

While I get the rest of the verb morphology sorted out, here's the general structure of the verb in Canocua. As you can probably infer, not all of these "slots" will be filled. I will post the details/content of each part of the template one-by-one, as I get them worked out. The template itself may ...

Re: Canocua (ona:taʔwę): an Iroquoian conlang

It’s cool that your lateral affricate corresponds to sibilant affricates in the other langs. Nitpick though: considering Cl clusters in Proto-Iroquoian and Proto-Northern-Iroquoian are already very rare as it is, if not nonexistent. I don’t think that’s true. Just as a couple of examples, hr and hr...

Re: Canocua (ona:taʔwę): an Iroquoian conlang

I’m curious to know how the lateral affricate developed, especially given the absence of a lateral approximant. If I were to hazard I guess, I suppose Cl clusters could have turned into the lateral affricate while the lateral approximant merged with /j w/ but please, prove me entirely wrong! [:D] G...

Re: Canocua (ona:taʔwę): an Iroquoian conlang

This is a very interesting concept, and I'm excited to see more! Where did you find resources for Proto-Iroquoian? Thanks, I'm glad to hear that! A History of the Iroquoian Languages (linked above) is my primary source right now. The Wikipedia and Wiktionary pages for Proto-Iroquoian are also great...

ona:taʔwę phonology and orthography

Ah yes, of course I forgot to upload literally the basis of the entire language. Because I'm a conlanger. Phonology: https://i.ibb.co/dKB1Jhx/phono1.png As you may be able to tell if you know Iroquoian languages such as Mohawk and Seneca, the phonology presented here is quite similar; lack of labia...

Canocua (ona:taʔwę): an Iroquoian conlang

Hey CBB! Now that my relay run is finally done (whew!) I'm going to share some info about a conlang I've been working on for a little bit, to which I'll be devoting some more time in the future. Canocua (autonym: ona:taʔwę ) is a Northern Iroquoian language spoken by approximately 1400 people in the...

Just another update, I am done with the grammar and am doing the dictionary as I go along in my translation of the text, which is about halfway done. I am almost there [:D]

Re: CBB Conlang Relay XII - ONGOING (signups remain open)

@Frislander Just want to let you know in advance that I will definitely be behind schedule by at least a couple of days. Right now I'm trying to make sense of the Dánıdoo text and get it parsed into English. Sorry for the inconvenience!

Update: I’m currently composing my Dánıdoo text and all is well, but I’m going to need a few extra days. Apologies for the delay. Just in case you are done before the end of the weekend, I just want to let you know that I will be busy with a religious event this weekend. By Monday I should be good ...

First time doing one of these! I'd like to use Awatese (my main conlang) for this. (I'll make a proper intro at a later date as I am brand new here)
Welcome aboard [:D] I've added you to Ring 1.
Thank you! [:D]
