Re: (Conlangs) Q&A Thread - Quick questions go here

Okay, thank you for clarifying that the glosses don't need to be fully self-sufficient and self-explanatory; that was the main point I didn't understand. Though if I ever need to convey a thing like that, your suggestion works (but now I realize that this wasn't my situation).

Re: (Conlangs) Q&A Thread - Quick questions go here

Another glossing question: If an attribute of a word, like, for example, its tense is indicated by a phonologically distinkt word that is separated from the main word by another, how can I gloss this? There is an option I used before (not conveying at all which word's attribute I'm describing), but ...

Re: What did you accomplish today?

Not deliberately and not before writing this poem, but it coalesced into something while I was writing. Basically, constancy of line length isn't always adhered to: if there are minor length changes between lines, some words can go entirely unstressed so that there is an equal number of stressed syl...

Re: What did you accomplish today?

I wrote my first ever poem in itota itiko . Unfortunately, I do not have the resolve to gloss it all, but there is a translation here. Concerning the stress: it nearly always falls on the first vowel, and the only exception here is the second word. The rhythmic structure is a mess, but I still like ...

Re: (Conlangs) Q&A Thread - Quick questions go here

Do you mean when two words in the target language can only be translated as one word in the metalanguage? This is actually a gap in the Leipzig Glossing Rules. My professor suggested the hash mark on the target language line to join the two words, like some people do in phonology. That's actually a...

Re: (Conlangs) Q&A Thread - Quick questions go here

I meant that the words don't have individual meaning. And I've seen this in the Leipzig glossing rules, but I don't know if it quite works. Maybe if combined with the space-and-hyphen for morphologically bound, but phonetically separate morphemes, like that: itot-a -itik-o language-NM-language-ADJM ...

Re: (Conlangs) Q&A Thread - Quick questions go here

There's a phrase consisting of two or more words in the object language and a basic root in the metalanguage, and they have the same meaning. For example, I can imagine a singular word that means "rocking chair"; alternatively, in itota itiko "itota itiko" means "language&qu...

Re: The CBB Conlang Census

Well, there I go! I guessed I should write a little about my conlangs, since I'm joining a conlang relay. Shintæmild , concieved about two to three years ago (2017-2018), is an abandoned conlang (probably was supposed to be vaguely naturalistic, but I'm not sure) that was mainly completed except for...

Re: CBB Conlang Relay XII - IT BEGINS (signups remain open)

I would like to join too, as an excuse to flesh out some of the less basic grammar features, and, of course, the vocabulary. The langage will be itota itiko, as it's the only conlang that I'm still actively working on.
