How can I romanize these sounds?

If you're new to these arts, this is the place to ask "stupid" questions and get directions!

How can I romanize these sounds?

Post by starrfox75 »

I have some sounds in my phonological inventory that I'm not entirely sure how to romanize. The sounds are the following:
/ʌ/
/ʀ/ (differing from r /ɾ/)
/ɕ/ and /ʑ/ (differing from s, z, sh, and zh)
How can I romanize them?
Edit: I ended up:
duplicating the letter after "u" for /ʌ/ (runa --> runna)
rr for /ʀ/
sj and zj for /ɕ/ and /ʑ/, respectively

I suppose really is would depend on a) the rest of your orthography (as well as your conlang's syllable structure so we don't come up with anything ambiguous, unless of course that doesn't bother you), and b) to what extent you favour digraphs (and trigraphs and the like) or diacritics.
You can tell the same lie a thousand times,
But it never gets any more true,
So close your eyes once more and once more believe
That they all still believe in you.
Just one time.
