Language practice thread

This thread is for the purpose of practicing natlangs other than your native language.

It works like this: Write whatever the hell you want in whatever language you want, and then provide an English translation underneath it (so that people can at all keep a discussion going!).

Some rules:
- No conlangs (feel free to make a 'speak in your conlang' thread in Conlangs though)
- Don't write in your native language.
- Provide an English translation of what you wrote.

If you're making a post with corrections to someone's post you may be exempt from these rules. When you correct though, remember that people might not wanna bother trying to get a 1:1 correspondence between what they wrote and their English translation.

---

Ok, I'll start. I stole... uh... I mean, I borrowed this Idea from another forum. Right now I'm just writing an example, so that you guys can see what you're supposed to do in this thread!

Waarom hebben jullie deze '----' aangenomen? Het ziet wel maar erg raar eruit!

Why did you guys adopt these '----'? It only makes it look really odd!

No te he ignorado, Ossicone.

I wasn't ignoring you, Ossicone. Yes, I do speak a couple of other language, and I was actually about to make a thread for that :) Now you can see what I speak over there.

----

I put the "----" to show visually the two parts of what I wrote. I prefer the dashes to this.

To me, "I think I will make many mistakes" sounds a little bit strange, like you intend or plan to make many mistakes; I would use "suspect" instead, but it works. In the last sentence, "Please, if it's needed, correct me!" would be passable, but sounds a little unnatural to my ear.

= = =

- - -

No worries, Wanderer! Your English is great.

Chinese is more comfortable for me than Japanese, now, but I really need to practice my Japanese if I want to go study in Japan next spring.

Gracias, Ossicone.

Thanks, Ossicone. Aszev's invitation surprised me!

What kind of computer do you use? Mine has a built-in entry mode for Chinese.

EDIT: Also, "bien educado" = "polite"? That's fantastic! XD Learn somethin' new every day...

I still don't get why the quotes have to be so big on phpbb3...
