Hta -language game

Post by Omzinesý »

You may remember when I thought about 'a lower language'. That is one quickly made 'lower language' or more a language game. (I don't know if 'Sprachspiel' is language game in English, because I never accomplished reading my language philosophy book, and Wittgenstein was in the latter part.)

Hta is spoken by giants that are seemingly linguistically less developed. It's a baby language where you just name targets and hope the others understand will your need.

Phonology

They have 4 vowels: a [ɐ], u [ʊ], h [ɐ̤], w [ʊ̤]
Breathy voice is a distinguishing feature in Hta. The preceding vowel is always aspirated before a breathy vowel. The approximants cannot precede them.

The consonants are:

Plosives: p [p], t[t], pk [kp͡], k [k]
fricatives: s , l [ɬ]
approximants: v [β̞], r [ɹ], g [ɰ]

The phonotactic structure of a word is always: (C)VCV
The stress lies on the last syllable of a phrase.

The grammatical part

There are three grammatical tones on the last, stressed syllable:
<a> neutral tone
<á> rising tone, expresses uncertainty, or a question
<à> falling tone, expresses power, or a command

The word order is somewhat SO.

There are only nouns in the language. The relations between them are expressed non-linguistically.

Examples:

Rapkw thsù.
[ɹɐkp͡ʊ tɐ̤sʊ˥˩]
People game(animal)
I command: let’s go hunting.

Shta Kwtá.
[sʰɐ̤tɐ kʊ̤tɐ˥˩]
Hammer (speaker’s name)
Where is my hammer?

What is a "language game" and how is Hta a "language game"?
