Greetings all.
Over the last few weeks, I have been working on a language wi a phonology entirely made of vowels. That's right, no consonants (save for y, which has an 'I' sound)
34 letters, many of them simply digraphs...
The language, dubbed Ā'èì (ah-ey) has a small vocabulary so far. Basically, I can only say hello (à'ūā'āì) and goodbye (y'ø)
No grammar rules as of yet (need to make sentences with more than one word...)
So yeah. That has been the fruits of my labours over the last few weeks. Not much, I know. I have been very busy.
I have also been working on Elmoric, and a tiny bit on New Felbahn. Other than that, nothing.

Learn IPA.
y is a consonant only when it is pronounced with a consonantal sound (/j/ as in you, for example). An "I sound" is a vowel /aɪ̯/.Felbah wrote:That's right, no consonants (save for y, which has an 'I' sound)

I shall... Whenever I have tried, however, I have come rather unstuck.Click wrote:Learn IPA.

And I believe it is more of a /y/... Please don't quote me on it.

/y/ is the French u sound, although is often an alternative transcription of /j/. You don't mean the /i/ as in happy: ['hæpi]?Felbah wrote:I shall... Whenever I have tried, however, I have come rather unstuck.Click wrote:Learn IPA.

Told you I didn't know IPA. It is very lazy of me, so I must learn.
Naturally you are right. It was just so close to /i/ on the chart... Ugh. I do apologise.
I am using an IPad, so I cannot listen to audio files... It is completely my fault.
No doubt, this will be speedily transferred to the Beginners' corner, eh?

Re: Conlang with all vowel phonology (work in progress)
One of my very first languages evah was an all-vowel language, that I imagined was spoken by a race of faerie-folk who lived in my backyard. I was inspired by Brian Froud, Dark Crystal. Imagine Kira's Nebrie-grub call extrapolated into an entire language. Well...a bunch of adjectives, pronouns, some nouns. The writing system was sort-of relexy of English. I do not remember the name...ooh, there it is: Wushnikaak (wow, look at all those consonants!
Obviously an exonym). I wrote it with my left-hand (I'm right-handed for handwriting) to make it look "extra" foreign (Hey! Lay off! I was like 10).
I have a blessed few smatterings. It think I eventually added a glottal stop type sound (How not?) and a consonant, [r] I think.
Then Dungeons & Dragons happened, I sold my soul to Gary Gygax without a thought or care, and it was all downhill from there for poor l'il Wushnikaak.
