The question is... why does it suck?
You can tell the same lie a thousand times,
But it never gets any more true,
So close your eyes once more and once more believe
That they all still believe in you.
Just one time.

Maybe it has pulmonic ingressive consonants?
Or consonants with a glottalic ingressive airstream?
Or with a velaric ingressive airstream?

Getting better

(I just can't resist glottal codas, even if it makes the language not obstruent-less anymore, strictly speaking)

No, what makes you think it might be? (I only do a priori conlanging)

It just looks so much like it could be a Khoisan language, it just so fits with the feel of that specific group in a way the others on this thread don't for me, for some reason.

It's vaguely Khoisan-esque, yes. If there's one skill I have it's crafting aesthetics to match certain natlangs or natlang families. Too bad it's worthless for what I want to do.

ahekae nekkōni kirōkinitta
I rode the red bus.

My new scrap project has a name: Kaonai'ōtonno. Made some phonoaesthetic changes:

ketairatikka tehotittoni ināhitā okānaka
akkokoron konnirao nittattirrōrio tanaho
nidōkarī okotiyi ekodā'i tanō'ahīyen
waoyahiko yogekāwoko okkegahokan
ohoyā'iyari taraotononi konkiyeo'o
kakenkido hōtokokē ewokō
honnonkōtekon ehoretē ataheko'ogano iwokā

Should I ditch the voiced plosives?

I kinda wanna add coda h and glottal stop but that's kinda my default aesthetic, like putting cayenne pepper into everything. I like it but maybe I should do something different

Should I make it.... poly?

It’s all duolingo’s fault. [/private joke]

Seriously though, it looks to me like you’re doing an NA style polylang with a heavy dose of Jappo influence?

Things I love here:
- iyi sequences
- the use of macrons (I’ve never pulled it off)
- the sparing use of diphthongs
Should I ditch the voiced plosives?
Were it mine, I’d keep them, because of the strict phonotactics and lack of labials, both of which lead to a very minimal look. My idea would be to disallow word-initial voiced stops, like in most native Japanese words.
I kinda wanna add coda h and glottal stop but that's kinda my default aesthetic, like putting cayenne pepper into everything. I like it but maybe I should do something different
I’m not using coda glottals for the exact same reason in Ch’eweyõw̌e, but I do have glottalised continuants and ejectives to scratč’ that itč’.
Should I make it.... poly?
Yes, but no noun incorporation*.
*Just because that’s what I’m doing in Ch’eweyõw̌e. No bias or anything.

It's more like a cross between jappo and polynesian languages phonoaesthetically but, yes, basically.

That's not a bad idea, and pretty much what I've been doing already, I just hadn't noticed. My general method for building phonoaesthetics is to create an awkwords generator for a general "word shape" I have in mind, delete all the ugly ones, then adjust the rules so that only the pretty words end up being generated.

Too bad:

aekogīni kakkōhiyo kiyokīdoggahotōkko
aekogī-ni kakkōhiyo ki-okīdogga-hotō-kko
morning-LOC each_time 1sg.NOM-fragrant_rice-eat-PRES
I eat fragrant rice every morning.

Also I have a new favorite word in this lang: okahō'on. No idea what it means.

A simple naming language project for a fantasy novel I'm currently drafting. It's deliberately meant to evoke the feel of Latin and Greek, but be prettier and have a few twists. It'll probably end up being named Vorsari or something similar.

Keinos Suriores Jistanien

Bellaria Tiama Saeworos

Viraniar Taevorenos Askeltae

Kenakios Doivera Faemenos

It's shit

Funny. I’m also working on an idea for a “Classical” language.

Another fantasy novel naming language, this one used in the modern day for an area I'm tentatively calling "the baronies."

nwtrinth emúsy mhyimwvi llamshlwruavhí
orhýllinh nomridhróll vhóebrych iolrúnhẃi
ghlálhevhgwsdh bhénham ialliunralhein
othay mhúlauvẃth ceamhill elmsýlheth

I really like the word Orhýllinh, I'll probably use it as an important city name or something.

A new langauge called Súošël. I was bored so instead of just making up a list of names I like, thought that's sure to be all that actually appears in the book assuming I ever actually finish writing it, I decided to write a short sample as well.

Gúososkënïn reshen cëokosmïnosrën luotul. Wúsoešëkït Cëxri̋s Bëoronïs čűoxönet Xúlnëxïes wíeč. De̋osokït réot cűnit tőecxönet wíeč šiek kïe sëorosnïenï dïrbi̋ros Yűokielmöris.
Spoiler:
I write to you of troubling news from the west. Sable Legion scouts have been increasingly sighted near Xulnexie. Three entire villages have disappeared in the region as well, and we suspect the involvement of the Priests of Sorrow.
