What funny notes to self have you made for your languages. I'd especially like to see ones that are odd or striking out of context.Different greetings, not a question.
And ...

Funny language notes
I found a short note to myself about my goals for Nyango, my Japanese-based cat language. These two amused me:

I don't do anything like this myself. However, last year I did see a FrathWiki user making the note "LLAVA ABORT!" to himself on his own FrathWiki userpage, with the edit summary "I will know what this means!"
He later deleted it, and said in his edit summary that he'd taken care of it.

I still have the very first grammar page of Yélian, dated of March 13, 2014. Of course, everyone has to start somewhere, and linguistics isn't exactly taught at school, but from a more experienced perspective, some of it reads hilarious.
Ok, Iyion, and what's that supposed to mean?Iyionaku wrote:Nouns are formed totally normally.
So... exactly like in German? (Modern Yélian uses a prefix)Iyionaku wrote:The future is formed completely differently to German. You use an auxillary verb and an infinite verb form.
Man, that's so sad. Also, what is a "conjunctive II"? There is no "conjunctive I", is there? (I refer to this mood as 'conditional' now.)Iyionaku wrote:The conjunctive II, sadly, has a new ending for verbs.
Wipe the glass. This is the usual way to start, even in the days, day and night, only a happy one.

These brightened my morning :3 I wish I had more of my old notes on hand but they're buried somewhere.

The tasklist instruction alternates between using 2nd person or 1st plural pronouns:

Re: Funny language notes
yes that was me ..... during 2017-2019, I had no traditional Internet and therefore sometimes typed random thoughts onto FrathWiki which actually had nothing to do with conlanging or conworlding .... in this case it was a dream I wanted to add to my dream diary. it seems i actually added that phrase in May 2020, even though I could have simply typed it into my dream diary ... i think it took me a while to drop the habits I'd picked up.Khemehekis wrote: ↑11 Jan 2021 08:42 I don't do anything like this myself. There are some corrupt etymologies in my Poswa dictionary, but for the most part I try to cover it up, even in my private file, by saying things like "as if from /pei ma/". there's one entry that has a note next to it saying DELETE ALL VIBU, meaning to delete all entries which rely on the now-discarded early root */vibu/, ..... which I think I have in fact done, but i've been focusing on other languages lately and it's possible that i still have some leftover entries that contain /vi bu/ or /u ibu/ or something like that which may have been the same root further back.

On my own FrathWiki page I have under Facenda:
Font for Queranaran done! ✔
Make a font for Avantimannish
Make a font for Loucarian
Sadly, neither of those other fonts has ever gooten made.

There's always another day to work on them, assuming those aren't defunct at least.
Re: Funny language notes
More than likely, another day to procrastinate actually doing something about it! The scripts are done, it's just the icky job of actually trying to make a decent font.LinguistCat wrote: ↑14 Jan 2021 08:08There's always another day to work on them, assuming those aren't defunct at least.
I also need to find a good & relatively easy to use fontabulatory software.

My notes are usually along the lines of
“I’ve fucked this up. I’ll have to come back to it.”
And that’s usually the last thing I’ve ever said about whatever-topic-it-is, so far at least.

As far as I am concerned, you have done some great work and you often came back to topics that you worked on before with success

I think it’s just as possible to criticize oneself too harshly as not harshly enough.Creyeditor wrote: ↑31 Jan 2021 21:54 As far as I am concerned, you have done some great work and you often came back to topics that you worked on before with success
