Grey Kököräki/Göölähi

Post by Shemtov »

Grey Kököräki (Fuhean name) or Grey Göölähi (Native) is a language spoken by a group of nomads in the plains north of the Fuhean empire who are part of the Göhöläki people, who live in the plains north and northwest of Fuhe, east of Göhöläki Mountains.

Phonology:
/b t d t͡s d͡z t͡ʃ d͡ʒ k g q/ <b t d c ź č j k g q>
/m n ɲ/ <m n ñ>
/β f θ s z ɬ~ɮ ʃ ʒ x ɣ~ʁ/ <v f ţ s z ł š ž h ǧ>
/r/ <r>
/l w j/ <l w y>

/i ɨ ʉ u/ <i ï ü u>
/e ɵ o/ <e ö o>
/æ ɞ ɒ/ <æ ä a>
/i: ɨ: ʉ: u:/ <ii ïï üü uu>
/e: ɵ: o:/ <ee öö oo>
/æ: ɞ: ɒ:/ <æ: ä: a:>

Phonological processes:
The language has vowel harmony, with front, front-rounded and back vowels. /i/ is neutral, with /ɨ/ being "front" for the high series.
In some words ending with /Vβ/ it becomes /Vw/ when the suffix begins with a vowel or stop. A similiar process takes place with /Vq/>/Vʁ/. These are reffered to as "Weakened" labials and uvulars.
Some roots whose base form ends in a vowel have a hidden n, weakened labial or weakened uvular that some suffixes expose.

Nouns:
This post will focus on the nominative and accusative cases.
The noun has no gender.

Plural nouns are formed with the suffix -UUr, that exposes hidden consonants. The accusative is -t except after stops, where it is -At
Noun "Möłü(ǧ)" "Horse:
Nominative: Möłü
Nominative plural: Möłüǧüür
Accusative: Möłüt
Accusative plural: Möłüǧüürt

Noun: Hem "Man":

The instrumental-comatative case does not reveal hidden consonants, and has four allomorphs:
iźaa/ää after consonants in back vowel words
ijee after consonants in a front vowel word
źa/äy after a back vowel
jey after a front vowel

Noun "Möłü(ğ)" "Horse:
Instrumental-comatative singular: Möłüjey
Instrumental-comatative plural: Möłüğüürijee

Noun: Hem "Man":
Instrumental-comatative singular : Hemijee
Instrumental-comatative plural: Hemïïrijee

Noun: Vaark "Woman"
Instrumental-comatative singular: Vaarkiźay
Nominative plural: Vaarkuurźay

The Locative suffix is the same as the źAy allomorph of the instrumental-comatative, except it reveals hidden consonants.
The elative suffix is Orţ, and it reveals hidden consonants.
The illative is OOmUUłq and it reveals hidden consonants.
