2-love-MASC-1.ERG
I love you.
This form is for straight couples and for gay men: lesbians omit the masculine suffix -‘a (it's even more complicated because the Kea‘aisõ have a rather narrow definition of what counts as "male" and is thus liable to take masculine agreement).
A less strong alternative.

Again lesbians omit the masculine suffix.

Re: I love you
Semantically, there's not much difference except that you could use frian with friends whereas ljuban is only romantic. It's chiefly a regional difference with those living within and east of the Dinaric Alps using ljuban and those living west of the Dinaric Alps, along the coast retaining frian.GamerGeek wrote:What is the difference?spanick wrote: Gutisk

Variations
To say "like" in the sense of a less strong form of love, similar to Spanish te quiero, you insert an -l- before the -a: kendla, kuncla, kestla, kankla. To emphasize the object and convey a sense of exclusivity, you add eca after the verb: kenda eca, kunca eca, kesta eca, kanka eca. To emphasize the subject, you add kec after the verb and, if you're also emphasizing the object, before the object: kenda kec (eca), kunca kec (eca), kesta kec (eca), kanka kec (eca).
