[maybe]* [cross]

*sorta, but not quite
small is closer.

I wouldn’t translate it as “small” but as a word that would be a synonym of “small” plus another adjective.

Sorry, just to clarify, do you mean that the word you have in mind can be a synonym of "small" as well as a synonym of another adjective, or that it is synonymous with two adjectives, one of which is "small", being used together?

synonymous with two together. one of which is an unknown word and small (ie “______ [small]”)

I wouldn’t use small, and “very/pretty” are really adverbs here. The usage would match an English collocation. If both of you agree, I’ll just say it and cut the suspense

Pèi in this context is probably best translated as the English phrase “poor little”. So now, you know “Poor Little Black Ash-[something]”.

If it were just "Poor Little Ash-[something]", I'd have guessed that it's a translation of the title of "Cinderella" or some similar story. But hmm…

Is the phrase as a whole the title of a story or a work of art or something like that?

Well, it indeed is the title of Cinderella. I used the Italian title Cenerentola as the basis, and assumed the -ent suffix was a modification of -itt. The “black” is a bit of a flourish, since favīlla typically represents embers or white ashes, rather than the black ashes. In Galician favīlla’s descendant refers to mildew or snowflakes or similar white substances. I guess it functions as a bit of a double entendre, because houx, like its Latin antecessor, can mean “sad” (although in this context it would be understood to mean “black”, the same way that “Poor Cinderella” would be understood as referring to Cinderella’s social status)

By the way that means it’s your turn shimo

I'm glad I said something, then!

And thank you, Jackk. [:)] Classes have just started back up for me this week, but I'll try to have something for the next round soon.
