Oil languages conservatism

Post by Lothar von Trotha »

Are certain langues d'oil more conservative in terms of morphology/phonology than others? Modern French has lost more or less all conjugations and has lost even the plural markings. Are there any Oil languages that keep more of them/ Arpitan I believe has well preserved conjugations and Occitan/Catalan obviously has them as well.

I had trouble understanding “oil languages” when all I’d read was the title.
You meant langues d'oïl.
It helps if you can put two dots over the i instead of just one.

Ah well; your post is clear once one actually reads the post; it’s only the title which might mislead.
