Re: Guess the Word in Romlangs 2

Post by shimobaatar »

Sorry for the wait! Real life has kept me busy these past few weeks, and on top of that, I don't really have any properly developed romlangs to use in this thread. Here's what I've ended up throwing together:

Language: Generally Iberian
Word: cainlha netun
IPA: [ˈkãj̃ʎa neˈtũ]

Hopefully this is a suitable challenge - not too easy, not too hard.

Is the second (selection of letters after the space/) word a noun?

The second word technically is a noun, although here it's acting more like an adjective.

Exciting! [:D]

Does the first word descend from a first-declension Classical Latin noun?

[tick] Wow, spot on! Yes, the first word is from canīcula/canīculam and the second is from Neptūnus/Neptūnum.

Is <netun> still a proper noun?

Does it mean anything like "marine, maritime"? Not entirely sure what to make of a "sea heatwave"...

A hurricane?

[cross] You're on the wrong track assuming the first word means "heatwave".
