Re: Ma-Lengi - an auxlang

There are eight motion verbs, which is a big part of all verbs in the language. All of them are derived from the root g-. The vowel expresses path. u 'enter' a 'to go about' i 'to leave' e 'to visit' The intransitive motion verbs are thus gu 'to enter' ga 'to go about' gi 'to leave' ge 'to visit' Th...

Ma-Lengi - an auxlang

Ma-lengi is the newest version of my auxlang projects. I well understand that nobody will ever speak it. Its goal is to be as good as possible if it were spoken. Afa-Mutu is among the earlier versions https://cbbforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=7790 . Ma-Lengi means something like This Language or My Langu...

Re: Random ideas: Morphosyntax

Nothing super strange but I think this is a nice idea.

A lang has many ambitransitive verbs like 'to hook' and 'to boil' in the present.
Their perfective past forms are though formed with 'to have' when they have an agent and 'to be' when they don't.

Re: Omzinian Scrap thread

I could make a new lang with Nominative and Accusative cases, Accusative being formed with nasalizing the last consonant. NOM malat ACC malan NOM muruć ACC murunś Many words have identical cases. I tested this in a Uralic language, which seems to be stuck. Maybe I could still make an apriori lang. ...

Re: An unnamed Uralic conlang

Before I ended up being Uralic, I thought the lang could have just the two cases. If this is a Uralic lang, it should probably have other cases. If belongs to the Western group, the one I know something about, it should have s-cases. Ablative -sat Ergessive -pat Locative -sa Approximative -pas Lativ...

Re: Random ideas: Morphosyntax

A "semireflexive" pronoun that refers to a group that the subject belongs to! The context of use: He led them[the group he is included to] to the town. That sounds cool. Would it contrast with a 'proper' plural reflexive? That was my idea. If there is a plural contrast in reflexive pronou...

Re: An unnamed Uralic conlang

Verbs could have 1) Three tenses: present, past, future 2) three (mega)modalities: indicative, subjective, negative (,and maybe special imperative and prohibitive) 3) three "declension": basic, anticausative, object declension (one with definite or emphasized object) and subject agreement.

Re: Random phonology/phonemic inventory thread

I had a diachronic phonology idea recently. What if we start with a bisyllabic root proto-lang and then take two radically different routes on what gets altered. Imagine three proto-lang roots *kwusa, *kita, *bome Lang 1 does intervocalic lenition first. This gives you glottal fricatives, glottal s...

Re: An Uralic unnamed conlang

There are only two cases: Nominative and Genitive-Accusative. They work syntactically as expected, no weird alignments. Nominative is the basic stem of nouns. koot 'house' koić 'man' veer 'blood' The Proto-Uralic accusative suffix was -m and the Genitive(-dative) suffix was -n. Both of them develope...

Maybe it's enough that everyone verb that has a diphthong has such a process. In English the number of words with diphthongs is big.
