Re: (L&N) Q&A Thread - Quick questions go here

Are there any natlangs with phonemic /tɹ̝̊/ or /dɹ̝/? I know Icelandic has /ɹ̝̊/ and /ɹ̝/.

Re: Noku speedlang noumi: Today's Speedlang

My computer ate my second post, on verbs. Either way, it'd be a little less speedy than I thought [xP] . I like some of your design decisions like limiting plurality on nouns to humans and the partial reduplication on polysyllabic words. Just for my own purposes because I am developing a language th...

Noku speedlang noumi: Today's Speedlang

Figured a high-speed lang would be a little fun. I've been incredibly blocked conlang-wise for going on 6 months now, and I figured it would be useful to unblock things by doing a very quick speedlang. The phonemic inventory is: /p t c k q/<p t c k q> /h/<s/h> /m n ɲ ŋ/<m n ñ ng> /l ɹ ʎ j/<l r ll y>...

Re: Languages with interesting phonotactics

IIRC there's a Qiangic language which recently underwent monosyllabicization, but in such a way that the permitted clusters were identical in onset and coda--i.e. [ClaCl] was valid but [ClalC] wasn't.

Okay that's 7 people so far including myself. We just need at least one more person to have 2 group of 4. Besides Creyeditor, does anyone have a problem with using discord? I have no idea how to make a forum with channels that only certain people can see, but I do know how to do that with discord. ...

Re: (Conlangs) Q&A Thread - Quick questions go here

I have a little bit of a tricky situation with my conlang Sembenese, which I made up a long time ago as a speedlang on this very board and which I'm currently reviving. Sembenese is currently supposed to do the Basque thing of having a relatively small number of verbs, with most acting as auxiliarie...

Re: Random phonology/phonemic inventory thread

Which one of these do you think is the most pleasing? I have inventory 1 for my current project, but I've been thinking of switching to 2, as I quite like the minimalism: Inventory 1: /p b t d t͡s d͡z t͡ʃ d͡ʒ k g q/ /t͡s' t͡ʃ' k' q'/ /s z/ /s'/ /m n ŋ/ /l ɾ w/ Inventory 2: /p b t d t͡s d͡z k g q/ /s...

Coalescing Morphosyntactic Gel

I've been trying to conlang in a way which is less formal and standard, and is instead more ad-hoc. This thread will be an attempt to make a language out of the muck, with scraps taken shamelessly from natlangs and my former projects, as well as glossolalia and reparsing random gibberish. I'm in the...

Re: New language discovered recently in Malaysia.

Aslian languages are wildly underrated and underused in conlangs--they do some pretty interesting stuff with non-configurational morphology.

Re: Koteg

Tense and evidentiality are both marked periphrastically on verbs, in a way which is lightly intertwined. An unmarked verb is understood to be direct and past . hwõb "(Someone) prayed (and I saw it)" pŋágg "(someone) died (and I heard it)" To make the verb indirect, one adds the ...

Re: Gynzua Roderuara: the Roderan Language

I don't totally understand your alignment--is it split intransitivity?

I quite like your inventory--especially the voicing harmony. Is there a natlang that does that? Either way it's very cool, especially the social variation in the voiceless nasals.

Koteg

The Koteg Language (Koteg: <Ğghő ʔotegg> [ɣgo̰˥ ʔo˨.te˩g]) is my latest conlang project. It's intended to be an inversion of what I normally do in my conlangs: tonal, isolating, noun-incorporating, and loads of fricatives and front-rounded vowels. It's intended to be naturalistic but a bit weird as ...

Re: What did you accomplish today?

Made a new language via some shallow diachronics. Like it a lot. Amusingly the 2nd person pronoun is /ju/.
