Re: The Werra challenge: questions, questions ...
Thank you Salmoneus and Torco; your comments leave me with some things to ponder upon. Will be continued.

Today, I finalized a Swadesh list for my conlang Vayardyio. You can check it https://www.dropbox.com/s/1168ewjl23ok8 ... t.pdf?dl=0! (First word = my nickname )

Re: Does anyone else try and actually speak or pronounce their conlang or is it all on paper?
I can pronounce my conlang, even speak some simple sentences without having the text written down first. When I hear my own words, they sound like a mixture of Italian and new Greek, but yet without any acquaintance. Someone else wouldn't understand one syllable. Feels nice

Re: The Werra challenge: questions, questions ...
Salmoneus said: the default state of humans is seemingly to have sex with any species that isn't fast enough to run away in time this might be true (LOL) Thank you for some useful commentary on my ideas. So, I gather, IYO it would most likely be the natural course of things for human populations to ...

The Werra challenge: questions, questions ...
This here is a map of Werra. Werra is a relatively small continent, surrounded by oceans in the southern hemisphere of the planet Tolouga. And here ends all similarity with Australia. Werra is unique because a humanoid race survived here that drifted apart some 100.000 years ago. Only in modern time...

Re: Maps: how my countries and cities look like
Hello conworlders, thank you so much for your compliments [:D] [:D] [:D] @ Titus Flavius: your second link (city plan of the capital Galirno on the river Canari) does not work for me you're absolutely right. Wrong link. Again: see here In this drawing, I couldn't manage to insert street names and su...

Re: Maps: how my countries and cities look like: continued
I draw maps by hand, with Rotring ink pens and colour pencils. I use different scales. For the last couple of years I try hard to improve the technical 'looks', varying from large overviews to topographical maps. These I find the most beautiful to create. I like to use maps as a decor to stories I w...

Maps: how my countries and cities look like
I've been drawing maps of imaginary countries since - I guess - my childhood. Mapmaking came before conlanging. Gradually, some 'grand design' emerged. Nowadays, they interact neatly. My conlang Vayardyio is spoken right here . I will add some more maps shortly. One preview already: city plan of the...

Re: The CBB Conlang Census
Yesterday I published my Vayardyio reference grammar on the Board (> conlang section). And well, I have done some word-counting lately and I guess (by extrapolation) that I have reached the 10,000 words mark! My dictionary is in Dutch and I most positively will NOT be translating it into English ......

Re: Rebirth on CBB: Vayardyio language preview
Hi Omzinesý ! Thanx so much for your post! you have devoted much effort to your lang. I'm a bit envious I'm glad to hear that. True: it did taken some time [:D] Thanxk you also for your remarks! Two replies perhaps 1) I'm a native Dutch speaker and perhaps my writing is a bit clumsy - it would be mo...

Re: Rebirth on CBB: Vayardyio language preview
Well - I finally completed the first (and major) part of my Vayaryio language description. You can read all about it following this link . Vayardyio is a language I've been working on for many years now. See older posts in this thread. Some friends here on the CBB encouraged me to press on, so I wil...

Vayardyio, continued
Vayardyio possesses an elaborate lexicon (over 20.000 words and counting), all neatly put together in a dictionary which (unfortunately for most of you...) translates into Dutch. Although morphology and syntaxis have a IE-language feel, there are no roots in existing natlangs. Grammar is well descri...

Rebirth on CBB: Vayardyio language preview
Vayardyio is an extra-terrestial language (a priori conang) spoken by the humanoid population in the so-called Northwestern quadrant of the Great Continent on the planet called Tolouga (in V.: meaning 'world' or 'living space'). Tolouga circles its sun in more-or-less earthlike circumstances and (m...

Re: What did you accomplish today?
I changed a very important word: YES. It used to be gani in my conlang but for quite some time I did not like that. I took the liberty to change it into lagio ['la jo]. I modified my dictionary and phrasebook accordingly. Now I think I am finally satisfied.
