Re: Famous CBB Quotes Thread
Well, if that's the general consensus I guess I'll find a different forum.

Re: Famous CBB Quotes Thread
Please stop it with the condescending tone. Yes, even in 2015 people may have shaky connections, even if only temporarily. I'd even say especially in 2015, what with everyone surfing on their mobile devices while in moving vehicles and so on. Please don't do that. Just because you can handle it does...

Re: Famous CBB Quotes Thread
I'm not going to look in that spoiler... Upon hearing about others looking at an image of an oromaxillary surgery (aka, the person's face was rent into two) Could we please not post that sort of stuff directly as images even in spoilers? Sometimes the CSS might load slow or not at all and the image...

Re: Which Dialect is This?
I seem to have generalised "there's" (but not "there is", i.e. "there's many reasons" sounds fine but "there is many reasons" does not) even when talking about plural things even tho I know that it's really "incorrect", and as a non-native I'm still ...

-snipping cool water physics stuff- That looks really nice. It fits with the overall art style of the various other bits and pieces of this that you've shown us, it's a nice balance between realism and stylization. Kinda has a "chunky" look that I like. Thanks! And yeah, I was actually jo...

Re: Other Creativity
Neat. What are they for, if anything? Conworld or story stuff? Or just random draw r ing practice? Any significance to the bracelet(?) that's being held? Would be fun to see you adding some personal twist to the classic manga style, anyhow. Perhaps influenced by local art from wherever you're from? ...
Re: ADANEWs
Post your best ADANEWs here. My most recent ADANEW is probably not that impressive. I just noticed once that in English and especially in German people will sometimes end their questions with "or", sometimes without changing the syntax or anything, like "You are going to the store, o...

Re: (L&N) Q&A Thread - Quick questions go here
Is there any natlang that has an instrumental case that specifically denotes the means of currency, like paying with a specific thing? Could happen in a setting that includes a vehicular language used for trade, imo; then I think it probable that minor languages would borrow stuff related to the ac...

Looks more like two words (adjectives) IMO.
Supercalifragilistic, expialidocious.
I can't spontaneously think of any compound adjective where one of the components ends in -ic so it sounds weird for me to consider this one word.

Re: English and typology
I think it sounds silly so I've made the conscious decision to have such constructions be "bad form" in my conlang, perhaps seen as silly "baby talk".

Re: (L&N) Q&A Thread - Quick questions go here
Does anyone know how languages that distinguish alienable vs. inalienable possession "usually" mark that difference in predicative clauses? Does either type correlate with a specific construction, etc.? Do you think you that predicative inalienable constrcutions are that frequent? 'I have...

Something like this, maybe.
haβuo taŋŋou-mə
strong-TR death<SUBJ>-TR.REL=NEG
Note: TR stands for transitive but often has a causative meaning.

The verbal template Started messing around with this. Tentative with abstract underlying forms and stuff. Some stuff may change meaning, sound or position or be removed entirely. Also, this table is not exhaustive and some other morphemes that may exist are lacking. But just something to start with...

Re: (L&N) Q&A Thread - Quick questions go here
Considering some languages seem to have more or less devoted cases to denoting "in (a language)", this doesn't seem too bonkers, no. No real plans — just curious! It'd be very easy to add to my current conlang considering ATM "cases" are really just weakly stressed verbs and I co...

Re: (L&N) Q&A Thread - Quick questions go here
Yeah, but it might as well jokingly or seriously be used on any noun that was used for payment.
Like, 'she got dinner sock-CURRENCY_INST' = 'she bought dinner for/using/with a sock', and it could never be ambiguously mistaken for some regular instrumental or comitative or benefactive or w/e.

That's what collaborations are for! Present your set to some cool artist interested in MTG and perhaps they might want to contribute. Little by little, card by card. Probably several different artists. Who knows? Good work, anyhow! A serious version of what I did as a kid a few times (creating cards...
