Re: Diachronic Conlanging open world
Not gonna quote everything but yes, that'd work, loglorn. Plus that volcano can be later used to wreak havoc on the Enkean civilisation [}:D] And not to mention it could play a major role in the formation of their religion and stuff. The Enkean people basically won the lottery. Seven times in a row....

Re: Diachronic Conlanging open world
Nicely worked out, loglorn. [:)] My preliminary estimates showed more or less the same, so I definitely agree with your post. But I will have agriculture emerge on Tungwana around the Proto-Enkean region. Since it's not exactly a region where agriculture would just spontaneously appear, I'll have a ...

Re: Diachronic Conlanging open world
If nobody has something to object, I would beg to let my Capital Mũg thăw be the very first big city in Teles, around 4000BK or so. That's fine by me. :) My first cities would appear later, around 3.5-3.4k BK, I think. Should I go ahead and make a page on the Wiki and add those events and dates int...

Re: Diachronic Conlanging open world
Of course these dates may very well be relativized for each region. Yes, of course, the dates I gave indicate the first occurrence of a particular discovery or domestication or whatever. They occurred in various parts of the world, some were later transferred to other parts by trade, others were in...

Re: Diachronic Conlanging open world
Well, I can help a bit with the first point, I've got some resources, plus it's not too difficult to create some basic global climate changes. I think it's be simplest to go with an Earth-like climate changes (the last glacial maximum and that). If we actually start with 7.5k BK, that would make thi...

Re: Diachronic Conlanging open world
Let's be democratic. Who wants to boost our starting dates 5 thousand years forward? No. At least not this much. 7.500 BK as a starting point would be ok. I agree, 7500 BK would be better than 5k BK. (Proto-Afroasiatic was supposed to be spoken anywhere between 7,500 BCE and 16,000 BCE, with the me...

Re: A fricative-heay conlang (no name yet)
other options for ṗ: could use ṕ, but unfortunately b-acute doesn't exist as a precomposed character. ƥ looks a little like a ligature of p and f. so maybe ṗ ḃ -> ƥ ɓ for the retroflexes: I don't know if you want to strictly avoid all digraphs, but since you don't use "r" in the orthograp...

A fricative-heay conlang (no name yet)
So, thanks to some comments on how Slavic languages are heavy with fricatives and affricates, I've decided to do a conlang with almost nothing but those sounds. It's not supposed to be a Slavic language, though, it's completely a priori . But to at least try and make a bit realistic, I will be deriv...

Re: Lexicon milestones
I'm a bit late with this but my main conlang Laefêvëši has over 3000 words (again)! It's actually 3025 as of this post (dictionary entries). And Gutiskar, which is a rather recent conlang (based off Proto-Germanic) but for some reason it's become my second most developed language in terms of grammar...

Re: What did you accomplish today?
Very impressive and good-looking. For the Romlang, I'd suppose using red. Thanks. [:)] I could use red, yeah, I haven't used it much. The Romlang (called Alfinu) is supposed to be spoken in northern Italy. You have not been working on Irgheret and that makes me sad... [:'(] Yeah, it's been slightly...

Re: What did you accomplish today?
I have finally created three new conlang flags! Each of my conlangs has its own flag and these are the new ones: - left: Karnišna (a Slavic conlang, based off Proto-Slaivic, with many Romance loandwords) - middle: Irǧeret (a triliteral conlang, heavily influenced by Ancient Egyptian) - right: Ememir...

Re: What did you accomplish today?
Like I said, there are ways to derive words that are sex-specific, so from the general word ƕáin [ʋa:in] you can derive haƕáin [xa'ʋa:in] for man and vaƕáin [ʋa'ʋa:in] for woman . It's the same for léit > haléit boy and valéit girl . I don't have the words for "to replicate" or "to re...

Re: What did you accomplish today?
I'm pretty sure every language in the world has separate roots/words for men and women, so if you're concerned about naturalism that may be something to think about. Teddy's point was that there exist different roots for man and woman in all languages. That doesn't mean there can't be a custom in t...

Re: What did you accomplish today?
But then something strange happened. I searched for "boy" and it also gave me "léit". You got the correct result, the language generally doesn't distinguish between the two. The same goes for man/husband/woman/wife, mother/father, brother/sister or any other pair like that (ther...

Re: What did you accomplish today?
Yeah, there's a catch, I should've mentioned it. You need to specify the search options where it says Field (it's set to Laefêvëši by default, but tick the box in front of Field or just click on it, a drop-down menu should appear and you just select your choice). After that the search should give yo...

Re: What did you accomplish today?
I finally managed to put online most of the Laefêvëši vocabulary I currently have (that's my main conlang). The only words missing are a few pronouns and the like. If a word isn't in the dictionary, it means I haven't created it yet. [:)] Oh, and the dictionary can be accessed here . Some of the wor...
