Re: (C&C) Q&A Thread - Quick questions go here

Yes. It's easy to claim divine assistance when you're a civil leader and you've got armies at your command. Your comparison is apples and oranges, though.

Re: Osroene: A Possible Euphratic IE Language

I have been toying with the idea of a ‘lost’ IE language (or ‘speculated’ IE’ language) spoken in Mesopotamia for a while now, but none of my attempts so far have been particularly satisfying. In this iteration, I am incorporating some previous ideas/themes, but I’ve also had some new ideas which I...

Re: Combat scenes and Misunderstood

Anthropologically, I think it's Tarantino that started using this kind of music in fight scenes, and concretely in that one scene from kill kill, and other people imitated it cause it's cool. This? It sounds so out of place! Viscerally, I get it: I'm not sure I can adequately convey the idea but he...

Re: Caste Systems in Conworlds

Have any of you on the board incorporated some sort of caste system into your settings? If so, how did you do it? Yep! In fact the various kindreds of Denê had their origins in a caste system, some of the meanings of which can still be understood in the various demonyms. As you know, Denê originate...

Re: Started a Worldbuilding YouTube Channel

Hello, everyone! I know it has been a really long time since I was last here and since I last posted. Life has been overwhelming and mostly all encompassing these past few years. Somehow in the midst of that chaos I was able to keep working on my own worldbuilding project and conlang. My husband ha...

Re: (C&C) Q&A Thread - Quick questions go here

All of my concountries seem to gravitate towards the Papacy for some reason [:D] It's been a stable system, historically. It has survived not only every every war and every empire that has existed since Rome, but it has also survived its own hierarchy. And that's saying something. I'll probably get...

a natural = English idiom for ein Naturtalent
Also, anatural breaks the natural rhythm of that entire line.

I'm surprised I didn't get zung for "intresting".

Re: Rythm based conlang?

It wouldn't happen in a human language, though. The closest things are probably certain stress shifts (e.g. in Tongan definite nouns) or length manipulating morphology in general. English is a natural, when it comes to rhythm. And also when we sing. Think outside the box a bit! Make up something co...

Very possibly an insectoid or avian language. Lots of rhythm in their languages!

Don't forget this real world rhythmic language type.

Re: Cooking and dining!

I've been living in the city for a long time, but I always remember living with my mom and dad in the old house before the war, and the kitchen was outside. You had to go out into the yard to reach it, it was especially hard in winter. I liked to get dressed every time, but I still caught a cold. I...

This Chaucer sounds faster to you because you don't understand him, not vice versa - we perceive speech we understand to be slower than speech we don't (as we all probably know from having heard a conversation in a foreign language and marvelling at the machine-gun syllables!). No. That's not what ...

I also have a group of space faring human conpeople(though they speak an a priori), do you think they might meet Rireinukave? Yes, it is certainly possible.
