Re: Guess the Word in Germanic Conlangs
Barmish is not a Germanic lang, not even Indo-European, but it has a fair amount of loanwords derived from either Old Norse or Proto-Germanic.

Yeah then it's a Noun Phrase (or Nominal Phrase) and a Determiner Phrase. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Determiner_phrase

It might have something to do with the body part: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adam%27s_apple#Etymology Though I suspect that the Hebrew phrase by itself is not the sole reason we see the fruit as an apple, it may have contributed. Oh, great. Although I still wonder about the timing... When does p...

Re: (Conlangs) Q&A Thread - Quick questions go here
Thanks for the comprehensive reply! Something that you seem to do differently is using a word generator. I specifically prohibit myself from using a word generator for Barmish. The only time I used it was to generate test vocabulary for the proto lang, to test the sound changes, but those words didn...

Can I ask where your roots come from? Things like zeyetz or muova. I bet you have a protolang for them

Re: (Conlangs) Q&A Thread - Quick questions go here
Barmish has over 3000 words in the dictionary, but I didn't make an etymology for them. Now I'm trying to reverse-engineer a proto-lang for Barmish (Proto-Thyllic), but this is going painfully slow, especially with the naturalistic irregularities I'm adding (see example). Do you have any idea how to...

Nice! By the way, it sounds as if you had a lisp. :wat: I'm sometimes a bit lispy, but my malicious microphone makes it sound way worse than it is in real life. Does it sound as bad in other videos, or does it sound only bad in this one? When recording this video, I sat closer to my microphone than...

I re-recorded the audio for the introduction to my video series, because the 500 edits in the previous version slowly became noticeable in the recording. Is that video series on YouTube? I am working with a vowel system with the following monophthongs: i y ɛ u a ɔ I want the following diphthongs for sure: ɔi and ɛi I want to make one with a and either i and y. But what's better? Should I be talking English or talking Bløjhvåtterskyll with English subtitles during a grammar explanation? I recommend discussing your conlang(s) in a natlang metalanguage, and working your examples in a conlang object-language. But that's just me. I could be wrong. https://www...

Re: (Conlangs) Q&A Thread - Quick questions go here
I guess I should have used some "sarcasm points" or "irony smilies" or whatever in my post. Or maybe not; maybe you did, in fact, get that I don't recommend doing a second-language course entirely in that language. Of course, in serio, I recommend you do the bulk of the video in...
