Re: Damta: A collaborative world
Ooft, long time without a post here! I've been taking time of Damta for most of the year, but the grand plan still is to develop daughter languages of Early Bokisig; I have sketched out three, but not got much further in the development. Even grander plan: I'm planning to, at some point, write a sh...

Re: Damta: A collaborative world
I don't want to search the 20 pages of this thread, what's the current year on Damta? I want to put Plakian languages on Damta wiki but I need some chronology :) So, there isn't really a current year so much as a range of time with different groups in different areas. You can see a timeline here: h...

Re: Damta: A collaborative world
Can I join? I have an idea of "Macro-Blekian" language family, divided into Core-Blekian & Highlands-Blekian subfamilies. The Core-Blekians will be nomads, living on a large basin (like Taklimakan desert but not desert, but steppe) The Highlands-Blekians will have more advanced cultur...

Re: Damta: A collaborative world
I've updated our page to include a rules section to comply with the new policy's requirement for having one. It's pretty simple at the moment and obviously place holder. Main page: https://damta.fandom.com/wiki/Damta_Wiki Wiki rules: https://damta.fandom.com/wiki/Wiki_Rules Edit: I've added a "...

Great! :) Yeah, I guess it does happen an awful lot!
Also, in my earlier comment I said dog breeds, but meant just any dog related terms.

I can't wait to see what you come up with for dog breeds. I can't wait for generic words for dog in different languages coming to mean specific breeds lol.

Re: Damta: A collaborative world
Here is another shot of a canaan dog. What a good boy hahaha. It is fun to imagine it making its home among the Txabao camps and such. I imagine the Kojikeng would later have several derived breeds. https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-VXFKTVcPCrE/ ... 145027.jpg

Re: Damta: A collaborative world
Who's going to domesticate the dog on Damta? What will the family tree of breeds look like? I think it is a really cool idea to have dog breeds local to certain regions and or cultures though I feel like maybe the initial domestication itself would make sense if that is something that occurs before...

Re: Question for a phonetically simple interlang
I have not read the whole discussion so forgive me if this is redundant but a language can completely lack labials if you want. See Mohawk: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mohawk_language#Phonology If anything having m and no n is odder but I mean, I think you're probably okay either way.

Re: Damta: A collaborative world
Okay cool. :) Just to give us some space to "play in". I really am not sure where the technology is at a given point relative to our own.I think technology could move faster or slower really and in different rates and directions compared to our own world. If we treat our worlds as roughly ...

Re: Damta: A collaborative world
I'm okay with you taking on how aliens get into the picture. I just hope it is not in the near future but a little far off. Maybe after PS 14 000? Does that work? (This reminds me, I need to log into the Fandom again and look at the time line. I just noticed a mistake in the timeline. 0 AG should be...

Re: English pronunciations
Heck, I'll bite. :) "naïve" : /naˈjiv/ "naïvety", "naïveté": /naˈjivəˌti/, probably most often something like [nãˈjivəˌɾi] Honestly, I would not normally pronounce the last two differently as to me they are just alternative spellings for the same word. I might say /naˌj...

Oh that's so interesting! Whistling at animals. I like that :) I promise I have not abandonded this project.Khemehekis wrote: ↑24 Jul 2020 01:42 I considered something like 'ingira'.
Then, when I looked at my dictionary, I noticed this entry:

Therefore, the word shall be:

Re: Does anyone else try and actually speak or pronounce their conlang or is it all on paper?
I do try to pronounce things yeah. Not necessarily to learn the languages of course. While I am mindful my own sense of what is cumbersome to say is based on the combined phonotactics of the languages I have experience with, I think it is helpful to give clues to what kind of restrictions or allopho...
