I've heard the term "clonging" before, though maybe that just refers to conlanging itself.

Re: Commonthroat: a language that only a dog could probably pronounce

So its job is basically any non-subject thing that isn't being done by the verb. If the verb takes an accusative object, it functions as dative. If the verb takes a dative object, it functions as accusative. It just tacks on a new valency, basically. Your way of explaining it is a lot easier, though...

Re: Commonthroat: a language that only a dog could probably pronounce

Least I could do! - What if I use the dative particle in a univalent verb? By univalent I'm assuming you mean intransitive. I'm going to say it serves as a benefactive, which is how the dative works in Latin IIRC. I'll have to ruminate on that for a bit, but I'll put that on a to-do list. I mean a p...

He holds up his hands, with a smile.
"And you are not a god?? Amazing!"
Then he remembers something. "Right, my chief tess. The drinks. I'm going to get them now. Any last requests? And anyone else?"

Re: Descending a conlang from English

If you'll excuse my diseased soul contaminating your thought process: whether you can understand Australians depends entirely on whether you have met many Australians (or seen them on television, etc). Any unfamiliar accent can be difficult to understand at first, until you "get your ear in&qu...

Re: Other Creativity

It's nice. Jazzy and reminds me of Japanese stuff.

I composed a couple pieces myself, but I struggled to write them down, so I only have my memory to go off for them. They were partly improvised anyways.

I'd say yes. Maybe not you - I'm jealous of your ability to wrap your head around really non-Old-World languages - but at least plenty of us. And forgive me, but that bias is there even still. Bias creeps in subconsciously. We can become aware of it and strive to decrease it, but like it or not, we...

Re: Commonthroat: a language that only a dog could probably pronounce

I've finished NonAuth Questions through the end of the draft. Overview: Pretty good quality, though a bit less clear. I feel aspect could be explained a bit more clearly (English aspect is pretty difficult as it is though, so either way). Pointers: - Is there a way to mark (un) importance/urgency/et...

Re: Descending a conlang from English

It's no sin to have bias in art. I think in traditional forms of art, it's actually a good thing - genres can't develop unless a bunch of people do the same thing.
It's only a problem if you want to do something else.
