So its job is basically any non-subject thing that isn't being done by the verb. If the verb takes an accusative object, it functions as dative. It's no sin to have bias in art. I think in traditional forms of art, it's actually a good thing - genres can't develop unless a bunch of people do the same thing.
It's only a problem if you want to do something else.
