Re: (L&N) Q&A Thread - Quick questions go here

Irish seems a very rich language. And also very confusing.
Are things like this common today? A lot of these really sound like one lives in the countryside or something.

Re: A N Y O N E recognise this language please?

I've looked the recording over. I apologize, but I'm not sure what it is. Maybe it's a kind of Chinese? If there were more words, maybe I would be able to fig. it out, so next time you are there and hear things like that, come post on this thread, and I'll see what I can do. And as well, if you want...

Re: The Lonely Galaxy Megathread (comments encouraged)

I think the plow idea isn't so bad (humans have done that from time to time), assuming they want expedited fields. I realize the main question, though, would be what they ate. Once we know that, then farming techniques will be easier. I assume steadtrees were commonly grown. (If it is of any interes...

Re: Osage script variant for Menominee

Theoretically! The truth is, I don't think the Navajo would be interested, as I presume they must like their old script a lot. I did make a syllabary for Alibamu once, and this one native lady was very pleased with it - so maybe I could try there.

Re: The Lonely Galaxy Megathread (comments encouraged)

You know, this is probably a good time to ask about what other "utility garments" (though I know it's been addressed already). What about sunhats? Hearing aids? Casts (I'm thinking tails in particular)? Parkas? Diapers? SCUBA? Also, what is Yinrih agriculture like? Also, I feel ready to st...

Re: Commonthroat: a language that only a dog could probably pronounce

I've looked through the grammar, up until the verb section. Here are my thoughts: Overview: The grammar seems easy enough to understand. Note that it assumes a basic amount of lingistic knowledge (such as knowing what persons are). I have yet to see how the verb section plays out. Pointers: - “and o...

Re: (L&N) Q&A Thread - Quick questions go here

Probably the best advice e I can give is to pick up info on some other languages. Knowing how weird human languages can get can inspire your own. That being said: One area you might want to play around with is word order. Another thing you might want to do is approach how they view things themselves...

Re: The Sixth Conversation Thread

Shortwave has been very good for endangered languages.
I was thinking more the vegan than the cultist part. But assuming they're like humans, actual cults must have occurred with the Yinrih at some point.

- Unedited Footage of a Bear is a metaphor for opiod addiction.
- This House Has People In It is a metaphor for living together in a house with family, but not as a family.

Had to write these down somewhere so I won't forget.
