Re: Romanization Aesthetics
I would go with "Ngali saen mbü öng shafu". Personally, two of the most important things I look for when romanizing something are making it intuitive for myself to read it (so, for example, I'd never use <ṣ>), and making it easy to type (so I'd definetely not use <æ>, for example).

Re: CBB Conlang Relay XV - A NEW BEGINNING
Speaking of the timeframe: Lorik, it's been four days already. Is everything all right with the torch? Are you facing any issues with the translations? I had a personal problem yesterday, so I barely worked on the torch yesterday. I've finished the torch literally right now and I'll be sending it.

Re: My Language's Romanization
You could have /x/ as <ch> if you change /ʧ/ to something else, such as <cs>, <tch> or <tsh>, for example.

Re: The flight-lang--A concept I'd really like to share
Well, I don't know if it would help much, but you could make your conpeople not just humans with wings, but humans with many other adaptations for flight, such as hollow bones and the presence of air sacs - that is, cavities other than the lungs that are made for carrying air. This would greatly red...

Re: False cognates
Are you sure that these aren't true cognates? They could be both from PIE *swopnos , but I don't know. I'd checked Wiktionary before posting and сон comes from *supnós , sono from *swépnos , and sonho from *swópniom . However, I've taken a deeper look now and it seems all of these PIE words come fr...

Re: Conlanging Features you Avoid
Literally all of my conlangs have fusional morphology. I guess it's because my native language is fusional.LinguoFranco wrote: - Fusional morphology and masculine/feminine gender. I have against these things, I just don't think it's that common outside of IE and Afro Asiatic languages.

Re: Conlanging Features you Avoid
Also, I think I've sometimes seen Spanish "su majestad" 'Your Majesty' with feminine agreement, in spite of a masculine referent, due to the noun majestad being feminine!?? I'm not quite sure though. No idea about Spanish, but I've already seen Portuguese "Vossa Majestade", whic...

Re: Conlanging Features you Avoid
This is not how linguistic gender works in languages that actually have it. There, gender is simply a division of nouns into two categories, with agreement between the noun and other things (usually adjectives, pronouns, sometimes verbs). This makes it easier to tell which word goes with which. In ...

Re: Conlanging Features you Avoid
Off the top of my head, I tend to avoid: - Any sounds that I can't easily pronounce, especially glottals; - Sibilants other than [s] and [z]; - Stress-timed languages (the conlang I'm currently working on is stress-timed, but it's the only stress-timed language I've ever made); - The use of any lett...

Re: Conjugating in Miwonša
"Žweniwa" ("to speak" or "to talk") is a durative action, while "kwonša" (to say) is punctual and telic. You can say something only once and then the action is performed. So what you're saying is that "žweniwa" can only be imperfective and "kwo...
