Re: Arayaz's thread so that she doesn't flood the forum [comments encouraged!]
I have an idea for a language developing from Latin but going with much contact with English. This is really cool!! It's also about a year (and a week) after I tried making a romance conlang so that's a fun coincidence. I'm excited to see what you with this. Also my chromebook only lets me on the C...

Re: Lexicon milestones and discussion of lexicon growth
Kankonian is now officially #1. At 8:49 p.m., I added the word bakotzios , meaning "intrusiveness", to Kankonian. It wasn't a remarkable word; just the abstract noun suffix -os added onto the adjective bakotzi (intrusive). With this, Kankonian surpasses Mmavvii's 100,000 to become the lar...

Sound changes are what causes allophony though. It just takes more changes to make the changes phonemic.

Re: Lexicon milestones and discussion of lexicon growth
Kankonian has reached word #98,765! Khimedzhi , meaning the Japanese town of Himeji. To offset this Terran place name, I created a city on the island of Ailoo named Rakolaa ( Rakolah in Kankonian). Later that same day . . . Kankonian has just reached 99,000 words ! The ninety-nine thousandth word w...

Re: Olwöa analysis swap
6) ejan jen moghan. 8) ejan jewo mozazezelh. Okay. I'm pretty sure ejan is a second person pronoun, since it's seen in the greeting. Now, jen is "rock," so jewo must be some other form of that ─ but what's the change? Is the noun marked for tense? And moghan and mozazezelh both have that ...

Absolutely nothing will go wrong here, right? Famous last words. ARTICLES Old English's definite article had a vast number of forms, varying by case, noun class, and number. Most of these forms were lost in Ẹlnk, but it retains two: se , the singular, and a , the plural. The plural particle nı shou...

Re: Olwöa analysis swap
Ughh I'm so bad at translations, "ajan e geobeka" is supposed be "ajan e jobeka"... I've rearranged my tables so hopefully I will stop making that mistake. A oabolw! How do you say "what's your name"? Ajan e jobeka! We have a few ways to ask for someone's name, but in ...

What do y'all think? Can you think of a way to account for the -mi in Hamklu slaaha ipshimi? It could be a gender marker on "water". It could be a gender system only on concrete nouns or something? Until now there hasn't been anything specifically referred to. As Danté follows him, he poi...

Re: Analysis Swap?
Ok... I read the threads... First of all awesome idea, second of all may I join? This seems more like a storytelling adventure thread than an organized game but I figured I'd ask. From what I've seen it's a very loose format. We've mostly been going with whatever feels the most fun. Also you should...

Re: Olwöa analysis swap
Okay, all signs so far point to two degrees of proximity: Debo for close, and bubo for far. Something someone else is holding seems to count as far. (Okay, I think I know my next move, but first, did you catch this question from Flavia, Sketch? I think I cut them off.) A oabolw! How do you say &quo...

Re: Olwöa analysis swap
Since you're the one beginning the conversation, you'd say: 1a) A oabolw. And then I'd say: 1b) Ajan e geobeka. "Well then, a oabolw," I say. I pick up a rock from the ground. "Debo ga?" Ajan e geobeka! Bubo jen. Bubo ga? 3) Bubo laibe. OOC: I just realized I messed up here, tha...
