axtɐ˥ I'm not sure if this satisfies your missing proto-segment advice though. I wasn't entirely sure what that meant I missed the ɬ before, and it makes sense so... axtɐ˥ɬ conlang-creature: The vowel is closer, although it's still not perfect. Like a day or 12 hours or something.
So seven days should be plenty ─ go ahead, conlang-creature!

Hmm. I'm not fully clear on the rules of the game, but I think you can submit two in a row, especially now.

Also, please everyone, give me a little bit of your thought process as well! It helps me give better feedback.

Re: Quick Diachronics Challenge

If nobody else wishes to submit a guess, the round would end now and Visions would win (although still not being perfect).

If anybody else wants to give a guess before the round ends, you don't have to submit it today, but I'd like confirmation that you plan to make one.

Earlier today I was struck with a sudden desire to make a language for tuataras. I'm not quite sure why, and I have exactly no knowledge of tuataras. But I still want to do it.

Actually, we just romanized /æ ɑ/ as <a o> ─ kahóra is something like [kʰæ˧ʕɑ˦˥ʁæ˥].

Kahóra: the Language of Dreams

I'm using my 1,300th CBB post (!!!) to announce Kahóra, a language I am working on with my beloved Sketch. It's a bit disorganized and just for fun, and not set in UC1 like our other collaborative project. Before I go any further, I'd like to point out that this is absolutely not intended to be natu...

Re: (Conlangs) Q&A Thread - Quick questions go here

First off, if this would be better suited for a different thread (the Linguistics & Natlangs one specifically), it's fine to move it. Anyway, when dividing morpheme boundaries in a gloss, what does one do if a morpheme is separable, but has an effect on the root? Specifically: fulh "to mak...

Have I mentioned I love this language? It's so beautiful and complicated. If I had three wishes, one of them might be to understand this thread ─ or to be able to live up to the standard it sets! [<3] [<3]

I checked the Leipzig Glossing Rules, which would suggest fu\šae or perhaps fu\š-ae ─ but I might be misinterpreting them. Does anyone know more?

Re: Arayaz's thread so that she doesn't flood the forum

zAhul Articles I think zAhul shall develop a system of articles, which can become the noun classes and stuff later. For these to be noun-class-related, they might need classifiers as well... But I don't know a lot about classifiers and their usage. However, I think in many language, they are used w...

Re: Arayaz's thread so that she doesn't flood the forum

I have decided to revise the above vowel shift. Rather than *e ə ɨ → *ə *o *i, zAhul shall undergo *e ə ɨ → *ə *a *i~u; the frontness of the final one will be entirely allophonic, depending on something, perhaps the preceding vowel. In fact, why not follow that up with *ə → ă, contrasting with *a → ...

Please don't use the word "experiencer" for 'intransitive subject'. It's WRONG . Rather, "experiencer" is a semantic role that may or may not be an intransitive subject. Many, in fact, most intransitive subjects aren't experiencers. [:x] [:$] [>_<] Thank you; I've looked it up, ...

Hit 20 pages on my grammatical sketch of the Násuunát Areyaxi languages c. 2500. It's painful, grueling work, but I need it all to be presentable, and this will make things easier going forward, I think.

Re: Who else can't sleep right now?

I had trouble sleeping last night as well, but it's been rough these past few days. Partially because I literally didn't sleep Saturday night and then slept through the second half of the day on Sunday, but also just because I've been pretty stressed and anxious lately. It's getting into that time o...
