Re: Update on my Phonetics chart (wording on vowels)
Where’s the first version? Also i’m genuinely confused by that classification (eg. /r/ as a stop), what is it based on? First of all, if you want to see the first version you should have looked at my other posts before even sending this message, like seriously did you think it would be easier for y...

Re: Gender ideology in languages
Socially constructed != fake. How do they not equate? A language creator who thinks social constructs are fake. This might be the most ironic thing i’ve ever seen. If something is fake (as opposed to real) then it isn't as... "real"... as something like skin colour or sex. It's not really...

Re: Gender ideology in languages
As an aside, you're transgender, regarding that I remember debating with someone who argued the position, IIRC, "that transgender is fake because gender is fake" and compared it to "transracialism". What are your thoughts on that? Socially constructed != fake. And so-called &quo...

Re: Gender ideology in languages
Since this is a language-related forum and we all thus know that words matter, i’d like to remind people that "Gender Theory" is a right-wing trans- and homophobic buzzword (and Squall certainly seems to use it in this sence). I’m both transgender and pansexual so i get this shit thrown at...

Re: Yá
Tried to make a new paper on the poetic form used in the inscription, but there wasn’t enough to go on so i just incorporated what i had to the first paper and updated the pdf. I also changed the timing of the language slightly in light of some history reading i’ve done recently for this project.

Re: Most hated conlang
It wasn’t a good attempt even for its time. By what standard do you say this? It uses both word order and case marking for marking arguments, for starters, and the original grammar isn’t even complete even though it claims to be, in many parts it assumes the reader knows a SAE language and thinks t...

Re: Most hated conlang
Those are quite good points that I've never really considered. I guess it's fair to say that Esperanto was a good attempt for the time it was created, but (imo) has no right to still be considered one in modern times, the only reason it's popular is because it already is - if someone made it now, i...
Re: Yá
I made a minor change to the grammar and updated the pdf to reflect it: unfortunately this meant losing the paper on Yá particles, as the inscription in its new form doesn’t have them (at least not in as overt form as before). I also modified the paper on tongue root position to contain more stuff a...

I'm partial to Schuessler’s reconstruction myself: it’s based on Baxter, but has stricter criteria for data.k1234567890y wrote:however, I tend to use the reconstruction of 李方桂 when using Old Chinese reconstructions, at least for the vowels and the codas...

Re: (L&N) Q&A Thread - Quick questions go here
Does anyone have resources for how to make a Sinic language (by which I mean "Chinese dialect")? I have no idea how to do that, I just think it would be awesome. I probably shouldn't even be thinking about it since I don't even know what the common ancestor of Sinic languages is. you can ...

Is it possible to have different sandhi rules for eg. monosyllabic words and polysyllabic ones? It is definitely possible for monosyllabic words to work differently from polysyllables on the morphophonological level. Diachronically at least, monosyllabic words tend to be more resistant to processes...

Yeah, the only difference is the length of the hold.Frislander wrote:Not necessarily: I don't think Finnish geminates have any aspiration, for instance.OTʜᴇB wrote:So if I geminate /k/, would I get a kind of slightly aspirated sound, a bit like /kx/?

I accidentally invented a very productive participle system for Yá, and i’m not going to tell you how it works.
