Re: Lexicon milestones and discussion of lexicon growth

Wait, each one has *one* Toki Pona definition? I thought the person was just a hardcore Toki Pona fan and defined all their words in Toki Pona for fun. If it's a randomly generated relex, congratulations revoked. I suggest we update the requirements of the FrathWiki page. Any idea for how to rewrit...

Re: Lexicon milestones and discussion of lexicon growth

Right, but the list that you get when you go to the download page is a list of the individual words that have pages, not a list of the definitions on those pages. Searching for "doughnut" gives me S: (n) ring, halo, annulus, doughnut, anchor ring (a toroidal shape) "a ring of shxps i...

Re: What did you accomplish today?

Over the last four days, I've been working on a list of nations for my human planet Shanu, in the Lehola Galaxy. I've also decided what languages are spoken in each country (I've actually done a lot of work on two of the tongues, Hitan and Kolothan), and I've named the major cities (including the ca...

Re: Lexicon milestones and discussion of lexicon growth

To be fair, Classical Yiklamu is just a cipher of English with its definitions taken from WordNet, which at the time had about 90,000 words. I dont consider it a full language because it's strictly tied to English ... even to the point of having the word for "bat" mean both an animal and ...

Re: Lexicon milestones and discussion of lexicon growth

After spending decades on top, Classical Yiklamu has been dethroned from its position of largest conlang lexicon by a conlang called M̄av̄ī, created by someone who calls himself Imjustadudeontheinternet. M̄av̄ī has 100,000 words, all defined with a Toki Pona definition, and was created for the sole ...

Re: The Lonely Galaxy Megathread (comments encouraged)

They absolutely have drug culture. It's prevalent in Neoshamanism especially. I've mentioned before that humans confuse the yinrih's lack of libido for innocence in general. There are more than enough drug dens around Focus to make up for the nonexistent brothels. Since they don't have a "buil...

Re: Cultural differences and features of perception of slogan (All welcome)

Just so you know, in English-language political science and 'intellectual' political discussions (i.e. newspaper columnists and people at universities, not people at a random bus stop in Tottenham), "democratic" and "authoritarian" are definitely not antonyms. . . . The common a...

I answered your questions, but . . . is "democratic" really a perfect antonym for "authoritarian"?

Today I did 70 fish orders! Both nouns and adjectives, plus a few other words like "clingfish" and "zebra shark", so I got over 140 new words! I've already passed the half-a-year's-work mark (86,250) between 85,000 words and 87,500!

Re: Lexicon milestones and discussion of lexicon growth

That's surprising. I always thought my perfectionism was one of my more notable traits (although I have been doing better at managing it lately). Is there anything in particular that made you think I wasn't a perfectionist? Oh, it was just that I wasn't aware you'd completely remade the same langua...

Re: What did you accomplish today?

I added a bunch of islands, so I thought: Why not create a bunch of flightless rail species for them? And while I'm at it, a few flightless columbiforms too! I checked my Kankonian dictionary spreadsheet, and I already had this word: momaui (large, flightless mottled rail of Nolaata with a red beak)...

Re: Lexicon milestones and discussion of lexicon growth

My biggest lexicon is Vuisi, with about 360 words. The language has a lot of problems but I'm still very proud of how far I developed it. The second largest would be Hɛlcɛso, with around 250. Check out https://cbbforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=450 . Would you be a spawner? Or more of a sandboxer? Or are...

Re: Lexicon milestones and discussion of lexicon growth

My current largest lexicon is Erụụxangụxerụ, with 681 words, but that's for Tyuns, so it's not originally my creation. The biggest lexicon that could be said to be mine would be Ruykkarraber, which just got to 250!!! The 250th word was sketi "to assist, to coach." Congrats on the 250 mile...

Btw, I feel like now is a fitting time to ask, what does the last part of your signature, "31,416: The number of the conlanging beast!", mean? Good question! It's an old joke/meme that started with a comment from Tanni (a now-banned user) in a conversation here: https://cbbforum.com/viewt...
