Re: Caste Systems in Conworlds

In my Reptigan conculture there’s a sort of ex ogamous “caste” system; people should marry spouses from a different stratum of society than themselves. Or if they’re young, from a different stratum then their parents’. Or if their intended spouse is young, they should acquire new parents-in-law from...

Re: Caste Systems in Conworlds

My Damtan Proto-Plakians and their descendants have a skin class system. The names are krpləu and supakrta and they are exogamic. The boys are in mother's class and girls in the father's, so siblings are from different classes. Those are like the Mundugumor “ropes”. Everyone inherits membership fro...

Re: Caste Systems in Conworlds

Five of my six concultures have Classificatory kinship systems and prescriptive marriage systems. All of those five have both matriclans and patriclans. Two of them also have “alterclans” like the Mundugumore geun or “ropes”. A person’s marriageability section (“skin”) is determined by their (and so...

Crimes of Grindlewald That's a long list! I'm going to have to review CoG again --- I either have no memory of discoflamenco battle music at all or was so seriously scarred by the event that I've completely stricken it from my mind! Crimes of Grinwald is one of the non-disco non-flamenco versions o...

Re: So why can't animals talk anyway?

There’s a movement of pets (mostly dogs) “talking” by means of buttons. One of them is Bunny. She usually “speaks” in three-word utterances. She can clearly do what Chomsky says dogs can’t do. What she can’t do is pronounce those words with her mouth. Her current button-set is about 50 words IIANM. ...

Re: What did you accomplish today?

I came up with the idea of a verb that indicates pluractionality. The verb being sarī- : ī-sun "They went [to that location]" ī-sun sarī-sun "They went [to that location] (pluractional)" 1. Wouldn’t that be an adverb instead of a verb? (Or, maybe, a converb, except I don’t know what that term means...

On the other hand sodium dithionite is a real thing.
