Re: Avalang da dum
Transitivity, valency and volition I did some stuff again. Tentative as always. Will be given as grammatical glosses without conlang words for now. Read a bunch of stuff yesterday that spurred me into thinking in new ways and felt inspired and today I toyed around with it and came up with the follo...

Re: English Modal Particles?
Now, Hoshk did say 'I always hear people', which is subjective — not 'people always say', which would be objective.

I'm sure there's a historical section on the Wikipedia article on transsexualism. Hijras come to mind.

Re: Grammatical Gender
Anyways on topic I felt genders didn't fit well in mine because what do you do with transexual people? Not knowing what to refer to them as, why not just use animate and inanimate genders? I feel this makes it better for conversing with people and makes it logical. The only thing I can think of tha...

Re: Pan-Germanic Logograms
I just want to throw it in there that "binderunor" sounds much more natural to me than "bindrunor". [:x] I think some of these look way too cluttered and odd but I like the basic æsthetic, especially of the simpler runes! [tick] And I like how the north and south runes seem to be...

Re: Language practice thread
Hvað sem er eftir Jean-Pierre Jeunet. Anything by Jean-Pierre Jeunet. I was actually goin...

Stundum er ég með gott jafnvægi en stundum alls ekki.
Sometimes I have good balance and sometimes not at all.
Ég kann sko ekki að dansa.
I can most definitely not dance.

Re: Language practice thread
Ég fæ nóg aldrei ökuleyfi. Mig langar ekki í það, og ég er allt of djúpt í hugum mér — fólk væri ekki öruggt. [;)] I'll probably never get a driver's license. I don't want one, and I'm way too deep into my thoughts — people wouldn't be safe. Ég þarf ekki bíl þar sem ég bý núna en vonandi flyt ég ti...

Re: Pan-Germanic Logograms
Correct. As I said, my style is strongly based on the 17th century style posted by HinGambleGoth and is meant to be the typeface that was established more or less around that time and lasts until the present day, unless anyone has a better idea, but I hope not, because I like this style and am havi...

Re: Language practice thread
Helst alls engir bílar (mér líkar mjög vel við lestir!), en verður maður, þá er grænn bíll sjálfsagt bestur!
Preferably no cars at all (I like trains a lot!), but if one has to, then a green car is of course the best!
Skitnir olíubílar eru svo miðalda.
Dirty oil cars are so mediæval.

Húrra! Reiðhjólamaðurinn er besti maðurin!
Hooray! The bicycle person is the best person!
En verður þú að kaupa bíl, þá mæli ég með Teslu!
But if you have to buy a car, I'll recommend a Tesla!
Svalur og grænn!
Cool and green!

Re: Pan-Germanic Logograms
The word has a very complicated history. Tell me about it... Spent quite a while not long ago researching it because I found it weird that all the pirate movies always talk about it like some sort of direct loan from Norwegian even tho that's not even near the current Swedish meanings and Norwegian...

Re: Hypothetical Germanic Linguistics Terms
I'd just call it 'time', plain and simple. No need to make it complicated. That's the actual word in some languages too. The "Swedish" term, while loaned from Latin, is in fact just 'tempus', which is indeed also the etymology for the "English" 'tense', only filtered through Fren...

Now, let's create the basic, original glyphs before we start going cursive.
Re: Silvish
Feels similar to both French and Italian in different ways. Quite interesting, unlike many romlangs.

Wouldn't using only the accusative be more accurate for certain modern varieties (with possible exceptions, especially in the pronouns)?
