Re: (Conlangs) Q&A Thread - Quick questions go here
But as for the actual pronunciation though, that seems incredibly weird to me. Does your dialect reduce vowels to /e/ instead of schwa? Or does it lack the alternation between reduced vowels in unstressed syllables and for some reason realise <a> as /e/? In unstressed syllables, I have /ə/ and /ɪ̈/...

Q: How do you say “non-binary” in Spanish?
A: Either “no binario” or “no binaria”, depending on the gender of the person you’re describing or referring to.

Re: (Conlangs) Q&A Thread - Quick questions go here
Likewise/henceforth, assuming diachronics to be a requirement for good conlanging is just silly, especially if one's conlang is tied to a conworld that doesn't need to adhere to the logic of the real world. I'd be quite insulted if someone said my conlang looks like a natlang tbh. I never said it w...

Could you elaborate? I don't remember anything about pronunciation... Right near the beginning when they're introducing topic. Re: (Conlangs) Q&A Thread - Quick questions go here
I personally believe that naturalistic conlang does not imply diachronic conlanging, especially when it comes to triconsonantal conlangs. Yes. There are plenty of good non-diachronic naturalistic conlangs. Also, while the diachronic method is a great way of making a naturalistic conlang, you need a...

Is there any instance of a language distinguishing voicing in all fricatives except lateral fricatives? In other words, in a naturalistic conlang that has f/v, s/z, ʃ/ʒ etc., would it be fine to only have ɬ, or should I also have ɮ in that case?

Re: An Ant Language [in-language name to be determined]
I'd imagine the ants would be human-sized, and yes, they are basically just evolved ants similar to those on Earth. I'm thinking they live on a different planet, though. you'd be interested in Sovála , a similar worldbuilding project wherein after humans disappear (for reasons unknown), a strange s...

This looks fun. I definitely have similar aesthetic preferences for small consonant inventories like this. The presence of // but no /w/ is interesting - I don't recall where I read this, but I believe there is an implicational universal where the presence of a labiovelar other than /w/ implies the...

Re: (Conlangs) Q&A Thread - Quick questions go here
Most triconsonantal conlangs are poorly done and contrived. Of course, naturalism may not be a goal. Can you elaborate? The triconsonantal system is an interesting feature, and it has only occurred in Afro-Asiatic languages (afaik), and mostly only in the Semitic languages. And like all interesting...

Could a reasonably advanced civilization reasonably construct stations in interstellar space? What advancements that modern-day Earth doesn't have would be necessary to create one?
