I'm still not dead. Despite corona virus now prowling about. I have finally gotten a reprieve from life a bit (see previous sentence) and can put some time into this again. As such, I've added rivers to our glorious (?) little world.

Re: Damta: A collaborative world
Nice work! Is the desert in D3, D4, E3, and E4? Yeah. At least, very arid but part is supposed to be desert for sure. Looking at it now I think I need to make it look more dry. I guess the area for Sitr speaking people is similar to West Europe and North Europe, and many parts of the area can be pr...

Re: Damta: A collaborative world
This looks amazing, Nachtuil! [<3] I assume the colouring also encodes terrain height, from dark green over light green to yellow (high to low)? I'm so glad :) Well.. the different hues is my attempt to indicate different biomes with darker darkers indicating thicker growth (jungles, and forests) a...

Re: Damta: A collaborative world
Okay, as promised months ago, I reworked the map in the sense that I vaguely alluded to. It has a definite painterly/stylistic feel rather than photorealism, which I had toyed with but ugh. Too much work right now. haha I should still probably go in and put in some more mountains/hills in certain pl...

I'm not done with Damta by a long shot :) I also have no problem with the -stan suffix.

Re: Kojikeng / Kodikeng
Haha yes :) Don't say those things! :p jk Nah though, if it feels necessary. I think I will have a lot of levelling too. Hopefully I can salvage a few endings from more frequent noun classes and have them re-analysed to do work more broadly. I'm exceedingly excited to learn that at least one languag...

More words converted. Inanimate nouns ending with a single, unaccented vowel: gogu: rock, stone Singular Nominative: gogu -> goɣu -> go:ɣu -> gwi -> kwi Accusative: goges -> kwa Genitive: gogaʃ -> kwo Dative: gogi -> kwe Vocative: gogaɾ -> goɣuɾ -> go:ɣu -> gwi -> kwi Instrumental: gogad -> goɣat ->...

Re: Damta: A collaborative world
I'm up for investigating it. I set up a page here: https://damta.miraheze.org/wiki/Main_Page I wanted to suggest it because it seems nice with good features and unlimited storage but it has one major flaw which is that if the account is not used over a period of 60 days it may be deactivated. I don'...

Re: Damta: A collaborative world
I'm honestly not too impressed with Wikidot so far. I can't seem to be even able to search for other users to add.
I guess we should use a different platform. Even a shared google doc would be sufficient for what I would like. Maybe we can use Frath wiki or some other wiki though. If not now, later.

I like plate tectonics myself though I don't have an expert level of experience with them. I'll need to invite you guys. :) PM me your e-mails if you want to participate in it. I'm guessing you'll need to set up an account on wikidot as well. Edit: Turns out email invitations are a paid feature so y...

Re: Damta: A collaborative world
I'm glad to hear :) I am thinking about a potential technique I could use to create different elevations, or the appearance of them. I'll make something to show what I'm talking about when I have the opportunity but it is basically overlaying textures over the map and adding shadow to them but it c...

Re: my phonetics - naturalistic
The consonants do look pretty plausible. If you're worried about having too many fricatives maybe make the retroflexes affricates and lose the voicing distinction on fricatives but it's fine either way. I think it is really interesting you don't have /i/ as you have /u/ as a high vowel and /e/ is ne...

Re: what brought you to conlanging?
I've enjoyed language and the history of languages for a long time. When I was a teenager as I remember thinking deeply quite about English and the other languages I've run into and it was interesting how the different languages did the same things. I saw a lot of irregularities in English and other...

Re: Damta: A collaborative world
I did see that, good work! At some point we should also do the following with the map: a) Different elevation heights; I assume this to be quite involved - though maybe k123456789y has already given some thought to the terrain when creating the map? b) Rivers, as they will be quite important to the...

Re: Kojikeng / Kodikeng
Heh, it took me a while to figure out that the end of your post all got underlined because you typed in [ u] to mean "/u/ as a phone". Sounds like a good answer, though. After all, if the words for "you" and "I" start sounding the same as a language evolves, we all kno...

Re: GovLang for Fractal Federation fictional universe
Thanks for responding! for the sound inventory, i am the most clueless since i only know one language and im a complete noob when it comes to linguistics. the idea i had for the number of characters (sound inventory) was to have as many letters as possible so i can create more short words, with few...

Re: GovLang for Fractal Federation fictional universe
It depends what your motivation and goals are for your sound inventory. If it is to avoid it sounding like English there are probably easier ways to do that. Like look at this inventory: http://linguistics.berkeley.edu/~saphon/en/inv/WichiMP.html There is no way on Earth someone would mistake this f...
