Re: Random phonology/phonemic inventory thread
Trying for the millionth time to get back into Híí diachronics and below is the latest version of the Late Híí phoneme inventory. Late Híí is the immediate predecessor of the modern Central Híí dialects, including Híí Proper and River Híí. High Híí, a ceremonial version of Híí Proper retains some of...

Re: What did you accomplish today?
Came up with a spelling rule for a conlang aesthetic I’ve been playing with. Said as-yet-unnamed lang has the high vowels /i ɯ u/ i į u and permits vowel sequences of some complexity with few restrictions. There is therefore nothing stopping sequences such as /ɯi iɯ/ from occurring so I came up with...

Inspired by Fuheko 3.0, probably for a Híí dialect or Híí-adjacent language:
There should be lots of endings like -yeðð’e.
Code: Select all

Re: Any well-designed conlang with strong East Asian features??
stuff Salmoneus, I’ve been trying to remember the name of a conlang that was quite prominent on the ZBB many many moons ago, but I’ve been unable to find it. It was modelled on Japanese and had a similar syllable structure (except it allowed CwV syllables iirc). The reason I though to ask if you mi...

Re: What did you accomplish today?
Chhuowòta vowel gradation is intensifying; Some roots now seem to have up to six different allomorphs. For instance, the root √si has the following grades: ság sà sé sè sí sig And for √rhiitts we get: rhiátts rhàitts rhiétts rhiètts rhìitts rhiitts Other roots have somewhat less variation, for insta...

Re: What did you accomplish today?
Luògùluon and Shímóbàtar are phonotactically sound Chhuowòta words. …while Chhuowòta isn’t [xD] Are the acute and grave accents tone markers? Yes, exactly. (assuming that's why "Chhuowòta" is not a phonotactically valid word in Chhuowòta?). That is indeed the reason! Woo! Double post. Cha...

Re: What did you accomplish today?
Woo! Double post. Changed the orthography of Chhuowòta. Old: /i ɯ u/ i u uu New: /i ɯ u/ ii i u However, there are two exceptions: 1. /i/ is spelt i after the palatals ch chh j sh y 2. /i/ is spelt iy word-finally, irrespective of the preceding consonant with the exception of word-final /ji/ which i...

I came up with personal endings I actually don’t dislike for stative verbs in Chhuowòta! Re: For English Speaker, Korean or Japanese? [ Question Thread ]
I’ve studied both languages and personally find Korean harder due to nuances in pronunciation that to me are more challenging than anything in Japanese. The grammars of the two languages are quite comparable. I don’t think the politeness registers and honorifics in Korean are any more complex than i...
