Re: (Conlangs) Q&A Thread - Quick questions go here

It's been said that most Semitic languages, and thus triconsonant root languages will recognize 3, 4 and 5 letter roots, but not 2 letter roots. So, despite this, do you think it would be all right that my triconlang primarily recognizes bi- and tri-literal roots but not 4 or 5 letter roots? Beside...

Is there a tendency in which order certain affixes appear on verbs/nouns? I was taught e.g, that TAM usually occurs in these orders: MTA-verb or verb-ATM Is there a similar tendency for Case-Number-Definitness-Possession on Nouns? And what about voice-subject.person.number-object.person.number-polar...

Re: Semantic Interpretation of Tense

Thank you both for your answers, especially the parts about relative tense and tense stacking. And for reminding me, that there is a difference between morphological tense and a possibly expressible tense. I guess that a language that combines relative and absolute tense can be described rather adeq...

What's the distribution of languages with more than three phonation distinctions on its consonants? Wikipedia suggests many Koisan languages have up to five distinct phonations. Are there others in different areas? Wikipedia also says that Hindi contrasts four phonations (breathy, voiced, voiceless...

Gibt es eigentlich einen semantischen Inhalt bei den Verbendungen "-ern" und "eln", wie in "kleckern" und "rätseln"?
Oder sind das etymologische Gründe?
Hat "-eln" vielleicht etwas mit der Verkleinerungsform "-el" zu tun?
