Re: Gestaltist's Conworlding Scratchpad
I am really bad at updating this thread. Since the last post, a lot has happened in terms of my conworlding. I have been working on a conworld I very creatively named Colonial World for the better part of the last two years. It has slowly devoured elements of my other conworlds, including much of wh...

Due to sonority hierarchy, it'd be likely for clusters with liquids to also be allowed in that case. What are your thoughts on that?

Re: The great Asta thread - not soon enough
OK, let's just go over other kinds of clausal conjunction quickly, caus there isn't really that much too it. Asta is one of those languages that doesn't go in for complex subordination strategies or a plethora of conjunctions. In fact there are only two true conjunctions in the entire language, and...

Re: (Conlangs) Q&A Thread - Quick questions go here
I don't begrudge there may well be other methods out there, but how would one keep track of arguments? Without something commonly understood in place (word order, case marking, major context memory, or other), how could "Big run red dog car the from saw the I" (which does, it seems, have ...

Re: Omzinesý's Slavic lang
Do you plan on marking the direct object in another way then? Having nom=acc in the presence of other cases is really atypical. I could see the GEN-DAT extending to ACC easily, given Slavic case forms.

Re: (Conlangs) Q&A Thread - Quick questions go here
I want to create a language with a non-configurational syntax, but I need some clarifications. I get how it works in theory, but I want to be able to incorporate it into a conlang. I might have gotten confused, but I have heard from a couple of sites that non-configurational (NC from now on) langua...

Re: How to make 1st person Neutr?
The real question is why you would need it - and it would inform the how. If you're asking purely about grammar, agglutination is your best bet. (I.e., have an affix for gender or person that is added onto some base form.) An example, albeit on verbs and not pronouns, is Polish, which has a hypothet...

I don't have much to say other than that I love your romanization. You're saying this is your PIE. Does it mean you'll be deriving a lot of descendants from it? Do you have a world to go with it?

I think Aszev would have to do the work on that one, but I'm sort of 50/50 on a "like" button as a feature. I actually PMed him a while back to bring this thread to his attention but he still didn't open the PM. Either he's flooded with messages or not around much. I'm not holding my brea...

Re: Forum News discussion/feedback thread
Ah, but then we come back to the old problem (of which I am guilty!) of not always or consistently replying to others' efforts. Pretty discouraging, actually. My point exactly. The ratio of likes to actual posts was always like 5:1 on the other forum. I'm sure a lot of threads here would've been co...

And I even participated in the discussion which I completely forgot. Thanks for linking this. The mods didn't even deign that thread with a comment so I guess that's that.shimobaatar wrote: ↑23 Feb 2019 12:02 For whatever it's worth, I believe this has been brought up at least once before.
Re: Naltal
3. This is more or less a practice conlang, I did not think too much about historical factors, should I do that always or just sometimes? I mean it's generally recommended for producing naturalistic conlangs, but it's not essential if you don't know much about that sort of thing. One of the most ta...

Re: Forum News discussion/feedback thread
I'm not sure if this is the right thread to write this but I found no better place. I would like to ask Aszev and the mods if it would be a big trouble to install a phpBB plugin that allows you to "like" posts. We are a forum where people show off their work and nothing is as discouraging ...
Re: Naltal
Looks good for a first conlang. One thing that caught my eye as a little inconsistent: you use "ni" as an object marker after the noun phrase. While it is not a postposition per se, I would expect it to pattern similarly. So I would expect the language to either have postpositions instead ...

Re: Īsmay - Phonology - part I
PHONOLOGY - PART I Ismaic phonology, and especially morphophonology, is fairly complex, and will take me several posts to outline. I feel we're deep enough in the project for it to be interesting and have some context. MORPHOPHONEMIC CONSONANT INVENTORY Let's start by outlining the morphophonemic c...

Very nice! [:D] Deverbals are derivation I always enjoy; I have lots in Boral (and i really should have more options for that sort of thing in Duban...) Thanks! Derivational morphology is my favorite part of conlanging, I think. I remember reading about in on Zompist's page was my first conlanging ...

Nice to see a new post of yours. :) I also find adjectives very hard to do. Glad I'm not alone! I like a few details about what you did. I like the reduplicated adjectives. I like the attributive locatives. That's something I've never tried, and definitely should. I like affixed true adjectives and ...

Re: Constructed languages with only one vowel a or e, .....?
I remember reading about some African language analyzed as having no vowel phonemes - but even here, it has several vowel phones, it's just that their distribution is predictable from the consonants. I can't find the related paper anymore, I'm afraid.
