Fontforge seems to be cool...
For myself long ago I used some online tool (fontstruct I think) and a light soft (type light)...
But with logography, a keyboard is not enough except with virtual large keyboard...
Now I use pics with macros in my prosessor to simulate an IME...

My point of view: to use a baptist word , seach a dictionary the usual meaning in the language you want to use... In english abjad is common... consonantary not... "Abjadiyah" is the Arabic word for alphabets. I deliberately choose my terms from English rather than Peter Daniels' loan word-derived neologisms because they translate better. If you ask an Arab conlanger about "abjad" they won't understand what you mean without explaining a wh...

"situations that force them to use" is realized only in L1 or in L2 country... for conlang as in Armond experiment, failure happens generally... IMO, genes and language are correlled for L1 language, in conlang I doubt any transmition possible "by genes" (by parents if you want.....
