Re: The Lonely Galaxy Megathread (comments encouraged)
A little secret about these long posts: I read everything. I just don't comment unless I feel I can point something out. Take any silence as a "like". Arthur C. Clark once said “Two possibilities exist: either we are alone in the Universe or we are not. Both are equally terrifying.” I woul...

Re: Rhymes in languages with/without consistent endings
I have seen Semitic languages do some awesome rhymes. Piyyutim as a particular example come to mind. As well, the Quran has whole chapters designed with soft rhymes.

Re: Backgrounds?
I got started in linguistics by being brought up with exposure to a second language, and my maternal grandmother complimenting me for pronouncing /ʒ/ correctly I think. I started into phonology, which was my gateway drug. Fast forwards (these aren't in order), I've read a grammar and scanned some pa...

The nicest thing about the CBB is that we can be friends with conlanging legends like you.

I recall the macrons and breves.
Gosh, school. We were taught a second language in school and I hated it.
I now read and speak it fluently and translate it for an occupation. And like it.
