Re: (Conlangs) Q&A Thread - Quick questions go here
I don't think it's actually all that common for polysynthetic languages to have noun classes; they're characteristic of dependent-marking languages, while polysynthetic languages tend to be strongly head-marking. But as Bininj-gun-Wok shows, it's still possible. But Bantu languages have noun classe...

Re: (Conlangs) Q&A Thread - Quick questions go here
I don't remember if we have discussed this before. Which languages have both incorporation and noun classes / genders? How do they interact? What happens to noun class markers when the noun is incorporated? In general NI tends never to bring any modifiers, bound or otherwise, with the noun, so noun...

Re: Project Stubby-Holder
Some slight modifications: Stubby gets an archiphoneme Q which can appear in C₂ or C₃ position. It can follow any coda, but it can only precede stops, so we get the following geminates: pp kk tt thth tyty dnh dn dny dlh rr *yy is missing; it became tyty . The sonorants other than r got pre-stopped;...

Project Stubby-Holder
Project Stubby-Holder [/size] This is a project inspired by, but not obligatorily conforming to, Australian languages. I haven’t seen many other Australian-inspired conlangs (the only one I can think of is this one which I'm a big fan of) despite the fact that they’re very interesting and unique. M...

Re: (Conlangs) Q&A Thread - Quick questions go here
In what kind of vowel inventories does /ʉ/ (close central rounded vowel) appear? Wikipedia has a very short list. Generally it functions as part of an F2-intermediate series between "front unrounded" and "back rounded", so it's roughly equivalent to /ɨ/, /y/ or /ɯ/. Take Natügu ...

Re: Too many pronouns?
At a glance, Hungarian has at least 144 personal pronouns (and another 119 reflexive and reciprocal pronouns) so 66 is by no means a stretch. However, much of the case marking is regular in Hungarian.
