I've put a bit more history up on the wiki, and there are over 600 words, plus a couple of grammar articles on the CWS page for Early Bokisig.

@Khemehekis

I'm currently putting some cities onto my map, and also want there to be two cities in a kingdom called Nedusu that is descended from the Txabao people coming to the area (around PS8300, the cities may have been founded later).

Would you mind coming up with two good truly native Txabao names for them? In case you need some inspiration based on physical features, I am linking a picture of the map including city names. Your actual Txabao empire would be to the west of the huge mountain range, which I have called Kadolekom (ka-dole-kom, meaning: eternal-mountain-forest) in Early Bokisig.

For Nedusu City #1 . . . Qi'ushhad, or "yucca town".

For Nedusu City #2 . . . 'Abraxanzakob, or "south of the mountains".

I've further amended my history of the Bokisig Confederation, sometimes a bit drastically, and added two maps (sadly a grid line shows up quite prominently as a black bar in large zooms such as these). I also think I might push the timeline for when Early Bokisig changes into Classical back a bit. That way I also get to make one more descendant, the language spoken in a political entity arising from a merger between the population of the western highlands and the Nëdusu kingdom, descendants of the Txabao people from that first migration. I imagine it will be a descendant of Early Bokisig very heavily influenced by Txabao.

I have started work on the next incarnation of Bokisig, the Classical variety (CBKSG), on the ConWorkShop, and derived a hundred words so far from my Early Bokisig words via sound changes, also involving some semantic shifts.

I've also put in a new loan: Early Bokisig /helbuhE/ covered both "to be bitter" and "to be sour", but the Classical variety wanted to be able to differentiate. So CBKSG /hel'bu:/ came to cover only "bitter", while <mekra>"acidpear" was loaned to coin the new meaning "sour", becoming /mek'la:/
- the final vowel was lengthened in analogy with a large number of other stative verbs.

I guess it's time to also put EBKSG vocabulary on the Damta wikia; are any of my collaborators here actually also on the CWS?

Nice! I've been quite slow with making new articles, and only ever just update my article on the history of the Bokisig Confederation, even though it gets quite unwieldy sometimes, and is crying out for some hyperlinks to articles in their own right.

Well, it's probably the longest and most detailed article on the wiki, and you deserve a sort of barnstar for that.

Speaking of new articles, check out the Txabao pantheon. I have sixteen gods and goddesses now, but could add a number in the future.

I have to love some of the Bokisig sentences:

dɛx saɣop saxɛmma-ʔo sixmɛ katma-mɛ-bolu
2sg king insult-CVB.SS soon die-PFV-FUT
“As you have insulted the king, you will soon die.”

ʔiʔaguhiz sɛ nuɣehe-mɛʔu saɣop xiʔo nuɣehɛ
plant NEG red-CVB.DS king REFL annoy
“Because the plant isn’t red, the king is angry.”

Male Queen of Hearts, anybody?

I prefer to not be referred to with masculine pronouns and nouns such as “he/him/his”.

That's OK.

I categorized your page on Paarism a few days ago (adding it to the Religions category, along with my Txabao religion and mythology page), and I also have my own question for you about it at the bottom of your Paarism page.

I'd like to introduce Gwapikiru, a language first created as an example in the Snowball Game thread, as a present-day rain-forest language on Damta.

Its phonemic inventory:

m /m/ n /n/
p /p/ b /b/ t /t/ d /d/ k /k/ g /g/ q /q/ ' /ʔ/
kw /kw/ gw /gw/ qw /qw/
s /s/ x /ɕ/ j /ʑ/
v /ʋ/
r /ʀ/
w /w/

i /i/ a /a/ u /u/

All syllables are CV.

Open to allophony suggestions . . . it's hard for me to think of good allophony for a language like Gwapikiru. Or maybe men and women pronounce some of the phonemes differently?

I'd like to keep much of the grammar and vocabulary of the example sentences in the Snowball Thread OP, but in some ways I'd like to make it more exotic, like having VOS, OVS, or OSV syntax.

Grammatical features:
  • Isolating
  • Alienable/inalienable distinction
  • TAM on verbs marked by separate particles rather than conjugation
  • Particle ta to mark proper names (similar to Tagalog/Chamorro si)
  • Rare word order, as stated above
We need to retroengineer Gwapikiru back to a proto-lang; it will probably have a small number of relatives that survive in the rain-forest. Except I don't know how to retroengineer a phonology like that. Collablang, anyone?

My largest edit yet (increasing the size of the dictionary by over 3,600 bytes): personality words!

https://damta.fandom.com/wiki/Txabao-En ... &oldid=524

I now have just over 1,200 words in Txabao.

That does sound interesting, but I have no experience whatsoever reconstructing protos (so far only gone the other way), and I also haven't been doing quite enough with Bokisig for my own taste, so wouldn't really want to formally commit to anything - but if you want to get the process started, I might have some input from time to time [:D]

I'm sorry to hear that and I hope everything comes out okay. I obviously have not been doing much either but it has never left my heart haha. I still fully plan to get back to it.
