Narrative from Contemporary Mbinhgany

Post by Yačay256 »

Inspired by Veris' thread on conworld presentation, I decided to write a short narrative about a day in the life of an average young woman in a major city in Mbinhgany. I hoped this format would be more intriguing than my website is, so please have a look.

I am looking for comments, constructive criticism and questions; please keep in mind that this is only my first narrative that I think is worth showing all of you, though do not hesitate to be direct. Thank you all.

Here it is.

That seems to be a very utopian day.

fufu = couscous?

It seems Utopian? Just out of curiosity, would a day like that be normal in any culture (I am thinking of Chumash, Taino and maybe Inka). I just think it is realistic, but I would be interested in why you think it is Utopian.

BTW, fufu is more like mashed potatoes and is a paste of boiled plantains, manioc or, in my concivilization's case, yams that are pounded into a dough.

Well I have never had a day in my life like that -- Everyone gets along fine, does what they're supposed to helps each other.

'fufu' means couscous in Medjimba. :)

EDIT: It's not suppose to be a novel or something so there isn't really any need to add unnecessary conflict.

Well, I haven't read the story yet, but Mbinhgany basically is a socialist utopia. I will say it's much less ridiculous than Fourier's.
