Lesson/Guide Requests
Re: Lesson/Guide Requests
Speaking of noun incorporation, and capitalizing on the recent jump in popularity of polylangs, would any of you be interested in a description of Crow cf. Graczyk's grammar of the language, Apsaalooke Alilaau? It's veeeeeery synthetic ;)

I am interested in Swahili and Greek
Re: Lesson/Guide Requests
I have a grammar of Classical Nahuatl that I can answer questions from. Is anyone up for a Q&A?
I can also do a Q&A/AMA thread on Biblical Hebrew, if anyone's interested.

Is there anyone who can teach the Thai or Tamil alphabets?

Not me.Shemtov wrote:Thai
Maybe?Shemtov wrote:Tamil
மரம்
spells "ma ra m" which means "tree".
(But it's pronounced more like mǝrǝm.)
It's sort of an abugida or an alphasyllabary.
ம and ர are CV syllables with an implicit ǝ vowel.
The ் suppresses the vowel.
I have my elementary-school Tamil notebook.
Do you think I can help?
Ask a question and I'll find out whether I can answer it.

I'm looking for a good reference grammar of Welsh.
My meta-thread: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=5760
Re: Lesson/Guide Requests
I dunno if there are any online versions, but if you can find Colloquial Welsh anywhere, that's a really good topic-based grammar of Colloquial Welsh (as opposed to Literary Welsh) and gives North and South notes as well. Also I was writing a Duolingo-styled North Welsh thing on Memrise that you might want to have a look at, although it's not finished and I can't guarantee complete accuracy.Omzinesý wrote:I'm looking for a good reference grammar of Welsh.

Re: Lesson/Guide Requests
I want to ask a quick question. If I posted a guide for my own conlang, would it be ridiculous? I mean, would there be anyone who is willing to read about it or would it just be ignored? I've been writing some quite good resources on it and I was looking forward to share it (I'm super excited about it), but I'm not sure whether this would be appreciated.
This is not just a course for learning my conlang (that would be quite unattractive for most people including me); it will be an occasion to talk about my conphilosophy and about my quasiconreligion (a religion that is constructed but it ends up being created in real life).

No way. People do that all the time.Serena wrote: I want to ask a quick question. If I posted a guide for my own conlang, would it be ridiculous?

As long as the "teacher" could adequately explain the phonology/pronunciation and orthography, I'd be willing to attempt to follow a series of lessons.Ànradh wrote:Teaching or learning?Shemtov wrote:Anyone up for Scottish Gaelic lessons?

Re: Lesson/Guide Requests
Hmmm, well, my pronunciation is apparently well above the average for my level of proficiency with the language, and the orthography is extremely logical and would be easy to teach, but my actual proficiency isn't all that high; I have a very limited vocabulary and my grammar is patchy and error prone, so I'm not sure how much use I'd be as a 'teacher' if I'm honest.shimobaatar wrote:As long as the "teacher" could adequately explain the phonology/pronunciation and orthography, I'd be willing to attempt to follow a series of lessons.

I can explain the orthog; but I'd basically transferring over a book I have, with very very heavy modifications.

Re: Lesson/Guide Requests
Would anyone be interested in Mandarin Chinese lessons? My current level is sort of basic-intermediate, but I think it's good enough for the kinds of lessons given here. Plus, it will give me a motivation to keep studying.

If you can explain everything well (and preferably provide some kind of optional exercises), I'd be willing to give following them a shot.GrandPiano wrote:Would anyone be interested in Mandarin Chinese lessons?
