Re: some minor news
· Q&A thread in EE stickied.
· Also trying out something new with registrations. New people won't be able to create new topics before making one post in an existing thread. I'm experimenting with this to prevent spambots registrating and making ∞ retarded threads.

Re: some minor news
That's a good idea. Hopefully it'll work.
Re: some minor news
Is retarded thread deletion really harder than retarded post deletion?
Re: some minor news
No, but my hope is that the amount of spam in general will be at least somewhat reduced.MrKrov wrote:Is retarded thread deletion really harder than retarded post deletion?

Re: some minor news
Have you thought about having a "Hello World!" thread for the newcomers to make their first posts in?Aszev wrote:· Q&A thread in EE stickied.

That way all of those spambots' posts would be in just one thread.
You could, if you were paranoid (as I am), say that even after their first post, in the "Hello World" thread, was accepted, their next post would have to be in some other pre-existing thread; and they couldn't start a new thread until, say, they'd had a certain number of posts accepted, or they'd been members a certain number of days (for instance the Terry Pratchett Fans thread on MySpace wouldn't let me post until I'd lurked for at least two weeks -- way too strict, but you get the idea.)

Re: some minor news
• The Teach & Learn forum is back in a new revamped form: Teach & Share.
Re: some minor news
• The style for making translations in the Translations forum has been further narrowed and specific in order to increase quality of translations.

Further being the key word. I pretty much already did this before, except that no one cared. Now we're doing this soviet style instead.Darkgamma wrote:OH FINALLYAszev wrote:• The style for making translations in the Translations forum has been further narrowed and specific in order to increase quality of translations.

Re: some minor news
Hey Aszev do you think you could add the name of the forum in the titles for the Q&A threads?
Like this:

Q&A Thread - Conworlds & Concultures - Quick questions go here

Shouldn't be a problem, but may I ask why?

Re: some minor news
I don't quite buy that reason, whether you're on the main page, the forum page, in the topic or on the active topics page, the name of the forum in question is always close nearby.

Re: some minor news
It's a small annoyance.
When looking from the unread posts I usually don't notice the much smaller subform listed under the actual topic name.
And it would keep from having 5+ threads with the exact same name.

Re: some minor news
It would also be nice if, instead of making a new thread for just a phonology/phoneme inventory, people posted it in the quick questions thread or the random phonology thread for critique.
That's a bit hard to control, though .

Re: some minor news
I think it'd be nice if there was support for writing subscript and superscript letters, like they have on the ZBB.
