Forum News discussion/feedback thread

What can I say? It doesn't fit above, put it here. Also the location of board rules/info.

Would it be possible to remove the font family specifications from the css stylesheet? This would enable out-of-font-range characters (such as those of the IPA) to be viewed properly in all browsers, as default fonts will be used. (Currently, they're clipped out or badly rendered on browsers other than Firefox)

In other words, find and replace:

Code: Select all

font-family: "Lucida Grande", Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
font-family: "Lucida Grande", "Trebuchet MS", Verdana, sans-serif;
with:

Code: Select all

font-family: sans-serif;
(Be careful not to remove the fonts of <pre> or .codecontent)

Yeah that shouldn't be a problem, I'll try to get to it reasonably soon. If I understand it right it shouldn't change anything much appearance wise except for allowing more characters to be visible in all browsers?

Well, it'll change the font appearance somewhat, since the font would no longer be predefined by the css stylesheet (which also means that the limits of those fonts would no longer apply). You can compare the slight difference between here and the ZBB which had done this.

Another option is to specify a list of Unicode-fonts instead of defaulting it to the browser's choice (e.g. if you really fancied one font over the browser's default choice). Something like:

Code: Select all

font-family: "MS Arial Unicode","DejaVu Sans","Everson Mono Unicode","Charis SIL","GF Zemen Unicode","Geez Unicode";

What does "detailed description" mean, or do you decide on a case-by-case basis?

It is done on a case-by-case basis.
But if you want a better idea of what you need to do to obtain a rank you go to the 'User Control Panel' and then 'Usergroups.' By clicking on each group you can see who has achieved that rank and then look at their work. This is also a good way to check and see if you already have a rank.

Additionally, if you feel that you have earned a rank but have not been given one you can PM a mod or the admin and politely request them to review your posts. (Please note that not all mods are as active on the forums.) It would help us if you linked to the posts/topics you think qualify you. Finally, please do not rush us or spam us with PMs because these ranks are done case-by-case it can take time to decide.

I'm open for such changes, but I'm still working on finding a reliable memberlist from the old forum. The ones I have accessible cover like 05-07 and are only realiable for the first year and a half :/

Given the nature of the thread, I feel the need to point out that 'submit' isn't correctly spelled in this table.
Also, perhaps this thread could be stickied?

Is it just me or does the board behave different today?
It refuses to load pages without displaying any error message, it's just stuck.
It doesn't happen on other sites, so I assume it has to do with the board itself.
Aszev?

You aren't the first person to say they are having a problemme, but I haven't been having those issues. It could be a browser thing maybe?
