Hi all.

I'm Niedfaru, a linguistics graduate and ESL teacher living in China. I have been conlanging on and off for almost 20 years, but I'm not as good as I should be after all that time, especially with my background.

I joined this site years ago, but haven't actually posted anything until now. I've gotten seriously back into conlanging in the last few years thanks for to a large online project where I'm on the background writing team, and the only one there with any conlanging experience. It's a lot of work, and it's helped me hone my skills a bit, but there's a way to go yet. I'm actually looking to recruit help for this: what are the forum rules, if any, οn such a move?

I speak English, French and very very basic Chinese, which I really should be working harder to improve.

Welcome!

I'm not entirely sure what you're asking, but the general rules of the board are in this thread.

I've read the thread. I'm asking if there is any prohibition on recruiting people for things that won't have much to do with this forum. There's nothing in the rules about it, but I'm asking out of courtesy.

Anyway, thanks for the welcome.

Oh, I understand now. Sorry about that.

Well, hopefully a mod will chime in to give a more definitive answer, but in the mean time, I believe I remember a few times in the past where board members have extended broad invitations to outside collaborative projects, so I don't think it should be a problem.

What sort of project is it?

I'll make a full post on it in another thread.

Thanks for the interest. [:D]

And don't forget to tell us about your own invented language(s)!

Ahah, those are... well... I've discarded and lost most of them years ago. I'm got the phonetic inventories and basic phonotactics down for a couple I want to work on, but they're slow going with everything else in my life. But, yes, when I get round to them, I'll pop them up in a new thread.

Hi! I am Shanhoia, and it looks like I was last active here ... about 7 years ago.
Not actually sure what Shanhoia meant, or in what conlang. I guess 7 years is a long time.

Since then, I've gone through new planets, new languages, new cultures - about the only constants have been a few characters who keep getting translated into new universes. Overall, I'd say I'm a constant conworlder who sometimes tries to make conlangs.

Currently I've been starting up a new conlang (Biza:nde), with intentions to take it farther and have it suck less than its predecessors, and I've been lurking around the CBB again for tips and inspiration. Hopefully I'll get to a point in fussing around with it where I feel ready to post things.

So hello everyone!

Hello, my name is Breloomancer [bɹe.lu.mæns.əɹ], a combination of breloom, the pokemon, and mancer. I've been conlanging for a few years, but I've never actually finished any conlangs. The conlang I'm currently working on is getting closer to completion than any of the other ones I've made, so maybe it, or the next iteration of it, will actually get done.

I'm probably not going to post a whole bunch, but I might show off my conlang or give some advice a little bit

Man, I can't believe it's been 5 years here. Well, I haven't been active for a long while, so I might as well reintroduce myself right? I don't think I've ever done a proper introduction here so it's worth a try [;)].

Well, my name is Qwed117, or at least that's my name here. It's not my name everywhere, though, but it's my name a lot of where. But not everywhere is that name mine as here. [:P] I've been hear for what's in four months will be my 5 year anniversary, but for the last couple of years, perhaps since 2015, I've largely stayed away from the forums, first moving onto the IRC channel (which is effectively dead now, but if any y'all want to come please do, I abhor Discord), then onto the Discord, and slowly moving away from conlanging forever (dun dun dun). I've made quite a few conlangs over the last 5 years, but they're all mostly sketches with minimal grammar. You'd have a difficult with most of them, since I don't exactly have a good documentation of most of them. I started with Akutar (which was later renamed Akuriga), and moved to some diachronic stuff, which has made stuff messy. By my last count, I think I had something like 20 sketches or "languages". Maybe not even languages. The ones that get the primary brainspace right now are SEAlang (a priori language) and Learran (diachronic romlang). Right now, on the backburner is the Mystery/Gem of the Desert. I lost most of my documentation related to the last, unfortunately. How effin' ironic is that? If there's anything I want to be known for it's that thread, no matter how ridiculously it's written.

Well, I guess some more about me. I'm a New Jerseyan, and in September, I'll be living outside of New Jersey for the first time in 15 years. I'm gonna be in Cali for college! Hooray for me (I'm freaking the hell out). Anyways, I hope to get re-engaged here. I hope y'all will reshow me the ropes, since I've basically forgotten Leipzig glossing. I haven't been actively conlanging, and well, I want to change that.

Welcome (back) Qwed [:)] Awesome that you're coming to Cali. Hope you like it here! We have much better weather than Jersey.

I'm assuming you'll be majoring in linguistics?

[:X] may or may not have abandoned the linguistics stuff. I'm majoring in economics & maybe a double major with math

That sounds a lot more practical than what I'm doing (linguistics/Latin) [:$]

I've been finding less and less time for conlanging since I started college, but it never leaves my mind completely (always thinking of new vocabulary, of my conworld, and all that). I don't think I'll ever be able to leave the hobby entirely, even if I wanted to. lol. I hope you can get back into and continue to enjoy it.

Good luck with college and the 3000 mile move [:)]

Hello. I'm Miar (lit. Greeting! I am named Miar [miɹ]). I'm also on Serebii, if you've ever been

I've got a language/world project in mind, as you can see above, but it's maybe only roundabout kinda-sorta ballpark estimate 80% presentable.

I'll be testing stuff here and asking questions to get that last push, then put the language out in full, and then I will have more afterwords. I have an entire planet to fill.

Welcome, Miar!

Are you a filler, by any chance? (I am one too!)
