The final parenthesis of each one still isn't highlighted. The added length also causes the names to be shortened to ellipses, so copying and pasting doesn't work on those.

You're very welcome I think most folk metal bands at the moment are European or from the Americas, so it's always nice stumbling across something from elsewhere that works.

Khusugtun's version of the Tes River's Hymn is really good as well, but obviously it's just Mongolian folk music, nothing metal at all.

I got really into Tengger Cavalry about a month or two after finding Nine Treasures. Favourite song is probably Sunesu Cavalry, but it does go very heavily down a more death metal line.

I remember trying to learn (Classical) Mongolian in college for a short while, but since I've had access to actual samples of Mongolian, e.g. Tengger Cavalry, Nine Treasures and the film Mongol, I've oddly made very little effort to learn it, focusing more on Icelandic and Faroese.

actually, I've been inspired to make a conlang that's morphologically based on Mongolian, and the so-called Altaic sprachbund in general (cbbforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=5457)

We've decided to go with "Act of Arson". Musical influences…I'd have to ask them. Personally I'm mainly influenced by things like Between the Buried and Me and the Dillinger Escape Plan (not that I can quite play at that caliber yet…). We don't have very much that's ready for being released right now. I'd like to give y'all a heads-up when/if we do, though.

I have recently-ish discovered the symphonic (gothic?) metal bands Sirenia and Xandria. Not a huge fan of everything (too much Floaty Sad Soprano, not enough action), but they have some nice songs.

My band played a show on the 7th. Here are some photos.

I'd planned on an early night last night, then I went and watched Nightwish's performance of Ghost Love Score at Wacken in 2013. I should not have done that That last minute really, really woke me up.

Without getting into the whole lead singer debate (they all sound amazing, come on), wow, that's incredible. Guess I know what I'm listening to for the rest of the afternoon...

EDIT: ...I literally listened to Nightwish for almost eight hours straight. I used to be really into them but hadn't heard any of their stuff from the past five or six years, and it turns out they've had some really good stuff recently!

Agreed. The whole "lead singer" thing doesn't seem to make sense to me. Just look at them as three different bands and then pick out the "covers" you enjoy. They've had some really good songs with Annette and Floor

My personal opinion is that "Annette ruined Nightwish" doesn't make much sense since, if I remember correctly, she was chosen to be the lead singer by the band, especially by Tuomas, because they wanted to try something new. Fair enough, if you don't like it, you don't like it, but it's not like Annette just came in and said "we're doing it this way now".

I could never get in to Wintersun. I found the vocalist's non-screamed-non-clean vocals quite... grating. Musically they're quite like early Nightwish, from what I can remember, and the vocal style isn't wholly unlike that of Jonne Järvelä of Korpiklaani, but there's something just off about it.

I'm mostly trying to expand it as I go through YouTube, and I have a tendency to download entire discographies at a time once I find a band that really just hits me.

Some people have suggested using Spotify, but honestly I don't really listen to music for the sake of finding something new, it's just nice to get a suggestion or two once in a while and see where it goes, then binge on the stuff that really stands out

(I occasionally end up finding out about stuff when I visit a friend in Leeds, but that's not a regular thing).
