Haven’t done this yet for the many years I’ve been on here
Alias(es): Birdlang, Pigeon City Chicken.
Location: Virginia (Northern Virginia specifically)
Date of birth: 11/18/1997
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Straight.
Occupation: Musician (Amateur producer and member of band), former student (graduated vocational and high school this year).
Interests: Music, linguistics, birds, bugs, toy collection, design, and manufacturing, synthesizers, musical instruments, conlanging.
Favorite music: Indonesian music, Indian music, Latin music, European music, oldies from the 90’s and early 2000’s and earlier to the 60’s, various other foreign music, anything that uses synthesizers definitely (that’s the instrument I mainly play), really anything other than any forms of metal (never was able to get into it), as well as any kind of punk, grunge, anything with Autotune abuse, or mumble rap. I do like some new music but it’s all foreign music and synthwave/vaporwave/80’s synth style music. I love dangdut and Indonesian regular and regional pop music.
Political ideology: I don’t have a political ideology, but I’d say if I was it would be center (I tend not to lean towards the left or lean towards the right, if I lean towards anything it’s left-wing beliefs like rights for everyone and also I hope for more rights for neurodivergent people like myself and people with disabilities).
Religion: Catholic but the religion has certain views I don’t really like and has some controversies so I’m trying to become atheist or agnostic.
Conlangs: Birdish language continuum, other Birdic languages, Bartalonian, Slarg, Fakeic languages, several natlang family based languages, and more from my various conlang families.
Natlangs Education: English is my native language. I am learning Indonesian and Russian as well as Spanish and I know Italian and I want to learn Czech and Slovak as well as Polish, Malay, Batak Toba, and German. I know bits of those languages already as well as Batak Karo, Javanese, Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Tamil, Bangla, and Punjabi.
Other hobbies: Music (I mainly use FL Studio and synths to make music), toy collecting and making, Pokémon games, main series Mario games, other Nintendo games, collecting CDs, learning languages (currently Indonesian, Spanish, and Russian, waiting for Malayalam or Tamil and an Indonesian regional language to be added to Duolingo), and many more. Im also in a band (unfortunately mainstream American indie, rock, and pop mostly, something I’m not a fan of) And I hope to form my own band or music project that has some albums.
Where do you see yourself in ten years? not sure, I guess having my own company and record label and maybe owning an Etsy store.

(looks back) Crap, it's been four years since I last updated this...

Alias(es): vampireshark, bloodbath, fluffyeel, doctor shark
Location: Wageningen, the Netherlands (as of May 2020)
Date of Birth: 8 June 1990 (which apparently makes me one of the older ones on this board)
Place of Birth: Honolulu, Hawaii, USA
Gender (or "sex" if you prefer): Male
Sexuality: Gay
Marital Status: Still single
Education: A.B. in Physics (2011); M.S. in Chemical Physics (2014); Ph.D. in Physics (2019)
Occupation: Postdoctoral researcher
Political Ideology: Libertarian-ish, though still disliking US politics
Religion: Agnostic
Interests: Conlanging/Conworlding, Travel, Numismatics, Languages in general, Delicious food, Foreign countries and cultures, and Designing stuff for conworlds.
Favorite Music: Rock (Fleetwood Mac, Heart, Guns N' Roses, Texas, etc.) into more melodic Metal (Nightwish, Opeth, Lacuna Coil, Delain...) and some harder stuff (Rammstein, Oomph!...)
Favorite Film(s): Amélie is still one of my favorites, all these years later.
Favorite Book(s): Jurassic Park and The Lost World, Carrie, Christine, the Abarat series... need to get back into reading for pleasure, which fell by the wayside due to thesis doom last year.
Favorite Travel Destination(s): Central France, Slovenia, South Korea, Japan, and Germany
Natlang Education: Learned French formally and from living in two Francophone countries, so probably about a B2-C1. German's probably about an A1-A2: I lived there as a kid, but didn't learn German formally, so most of my German is very bad. In the process of learning Dutch, but not yet at A1 level (I mean, I'm living in the Netherlands, might as well...)
Conlangs: Telèmor and Ilian are my most-developed (in that order), with Oshaharu and Mis somewhere on the sliding scale of development. A few others come and go.
Where do you see yourself in ten years?: Still in Europe. Hopefully still in research.
And I'll dance with you in Vienna,
I'll be wearing a river's disguise;
The hyacinth wild on my shoulder,
My mouth on the dew of your thigh...

Seems to have been a few years since I looked at my info:

Alias(es): Sangi39

Location: North Yorkshire, England, UK (if you know the McDonalds just of the A1, you know where I live)

Date of Birth: August 2nd 1989

Gender (or "sex" if you prefer): Male

Sexuality: Bisexual (completely out now, unlike last time, don't care who knows)

Marital Status: Divorced and currently single

Education: BA Archaeology 2:1

Occupation: Working in fraud prevention for a gift card / voucher company

Political Ideology: I said "social democrat" four years ago, but leaning more heavily towards some form of socialism again. I'm not sure if there's a label for it, but that's a good start, I think.

Religion: None, weak atheist.

Interests: Hmmm, conlanging, obviously, archaeology, history, linguistics, astronomy, physics, anthropology (specifically kinship, marriage, social structure and the like), drinking (mostly with friends, but I will, now more than ever, drunk alone... sort of... yay for messaging services), board games, generally nerdiness really.

Favorite Music: Metal... Black, Death, Groove, Thrash, Doom, Folk, Symphonic, but nothing like Iron Maiden or Metallica and I'm not a huge fan of Black Sabbath either (they're the three bands people have said "oh, like..." most often when I say "Metal"). I also like NDH and NFH, Industrial Metal and even some industrial music in general as well as SOAD and RATM.

Favourite TV Show(s): Firefly and Star Trek: The Next Generation definitely, but I don't think I really watch anything that regularly any more.

Favourite Film(s): Star Wars: Episode IV (can't really go wrong with it), pretty much all of the recent Marvel films and Serenity. Oh, and almost anything by Tim Burton.

Favourite Book(s): I almost exclusively read non-fiction (relating to my interests above), but I love Terry Pratchett's Discworld books (favourites being the Death books and the Watch books) and some of Neil Gaiman's stuff as well. It took me over a year to read The Shepherd's Crown by Terry Pratchett because I didn't want it to end.

Natlang Education: GCSEs in Russian (a*) and German (b) (now watch as I remember a total of two words of each [:P]), some Welsh in primary school in southern Wales and two years of French in high school alongside German. I'm currently attempting to learn Icelandic in preparation for Eistnaflug next year [:)]

Favourite Natlang(s): Possibly Old Norse, Faroese and Icelandic as well as Finnish.

Favourite Conlang(s): Purely on the basis of its amazing script, Naduta [:)] Sal's Rawang Ata also seems pretty cool, oh, and Ahzoh's Vrkhazhian

Conlangs: I am insanely behind on the languages of Yantas, but that's still my main project.

Where do you see yourself in ten years?: As always, I don't know. I graduated a decade ago now, and don't see a way into archaeology any more, not as a job. I've considered doing a masters, now that I might be able to fund a part time one myself, possibly in Cognitive Studies, assuming the University of Sheffield still does that, but other than that, I have no idea. Probably same as now, just getting by day by day. I'm a lot more confident in who I am, so hopefully fewer scars.
You can tell the same lie a thousand times,
But it never gets any more true,
So close your eyes once more and once more believe
That they all still believe in you.
Just one time.

I like reading these updates. And considering that I was only 16 when I posted my original answer to this question and I'm now 20, I figure it's time for an update:

Alias(es): Kai. I'm "KaiTheHuman" on a few sites.
Location: Bay Area, California (grew up in Napa Valley, attend college in the Bay, though currently classes are mostly online)
Date of Birth: 7 October 2000
Gender (or "sex" if you prefer): Male, still apathetic about gender and pronouns.
Sexuality: Bisexual. I have now been with both genders.
Marital Status: Single
Education: Working toward a BA in Linguistics (with a minor in Latin)
Occupation: Was working at the campus bookstore. Nothing now.
Political Ideology: Still a left-leaning moderate for the most part. More anti-mainstream than I used to be.
Religion: Raised Catholic, but my beliefs are my own. Open-minded about all religions.
Interests: Conlanging, linguistics, Indo-European languages, European history, religious history, comparative religion, history of philosophy, history of art, literature, mountain biking, hiking, traveling, vinyl/audiophilia, theater (was in some musicals toward the end of high school and a few in college before that all abruptly ended this year), anime/manga
Favorite Music: Still love classical as well as electronica and indie rock, but have become obsessed with vocaloid recently to the point where it and classical are mostly what I listen to while on YouTube. I also listen to more jazz now, mostly on vinyl.
Favourite TV Show(s): The Simpsons, Bob's Burgers, Adventure Time, Bojack Horseman, The Crown, Mozart in the Jungle, various anime including Evangelion, Promised Neverland, Assassination Classroom, etc.
Favourite Film(s): Wes Anderson films, Miyazaki films, not a big movie-watcher but I like some.
Favourite Book(s): I read a lot of non-fiction, mainly history and philosophy, but I also enjoy Kafka, John Fowles, Julian Barnes, Haruki Murakami, Nabokov, Umberto Eco, Gabriel Garcia Marquez
Natlang Education: 8 years of Latin, 4 years of Japanese, 2 years of Ancient Greek
Favourite Natlang(s): Latin, Japanese, Scottish Gaelic, Romanian
Favourite Conlang(s): Sindarin, Quenya
Conlangs: Lihmelinyan and Arculese (wow, a whole second one added since last time and not even posted here yet).

Where do you see yourself in ten years?: Probably in grad school. Maybe in Europe.

Been six years for me, apparently!

Alias(es): just alynnidalar or aly these days
Location: Michigan, USA
Date of birth: June 12, 1992
Gender: Female
Sexuality: I am the token cishet woman in virtually every conthinging community I'm a part of [xD]
Marital Status: quite single
Education: bachelor's in computer science
Occupation: web developer
Religion: non-denominational Christian
Political ideology: significantly more left than I was six years ago, but I still find labels difficult for myself. A bit left of center by American standards, I suppose.
Interests: technology, language (especially etymology/semantic changes), history, culture--the last being my favorite part of worldbuilding. I have pretty broad if shallow interests in many other things, such as astronomy, cuisine, music, etc. Fantasy/sci-fi genres are my favorite regardless of form of media.
Favorite music: a Lot of metal. Mostly symphonic/folk/melodic death. Nightwish was my gateway drug and I'm still rather fond of them. That being said, I'll listen to most things. And I'm always down for literally anything with a hurdygurdy.
Favorite books/authors: Brandon Sanderson is by far my current favorite fantasy author, in particular his Stormlight Archive epic fantasy series. I'm also quite fond of Terry Pratchett's Discworld (fantasy with a comedic bent), Jim Butcher's Dresden Files (urban fantasy), and Patricia Briggs' Mercy Thompson (urban fantasy). If there's a theme here, it's that absolutely none of it is traditional swords-and-sorcery fantasy. Even if all of them do have swords from time to time. [;)]
Favorite movies/TV shows: I can't concentrate long enough to watch most things through, or to rewatch them. I'm very fond of Avatar: The Last Airbender but I'm not sure there's much else I'd truly call a favorite at this point. Right now I'm deeply enjoying The Mandalorian, but is it a favorite? I dunno.
Favorite games: Right now it's 24/7 Hades lol. It's a very good game. More broadly, though, I'm fond of the Elder Scrolls series despite its, errr, eccentricities, ditto on Mass Effect. I'll always owe a debt of gratitude to the Half-Life/Portal games for getting me into modern PC videogaming as well.
Conlangs: Tirina, Azen
Where do you see yourself in ten years? I couldn't begin to guess and I'm not sure I'd like to try. I get asked this sort of question now and again at my job and I never have an answer. I don't think that far ahead! I bought a house this year so I suppose I might still be in it in ten years, but that's so far away...

Re: You

I return once again with a spark of inspiration to inevitably abandon. Maybe this time will be different. I'm certainly different at least. Went back and found the last time I did this which was 3.5 years ago for a laugh.

Alias(es): Formerly OTheB (and variations) though that's based on my deadname so uh... Now M/Mi/Mira/Mirage, MiraMira, MiraOnTheWall, HeyItMi...
Location: SW England (NW as of this coming September)
Date of birth: Summer, 2000
Gender: Last time I did this I put in "Don't like the idea of gender. My sex is male." and oh boy did that first part hit hard later on. I am a transfemme enby (agender).
Pronouns: they/she
Sexuality: Bisexual demiromantic polyamorous... "very incredibly gay" works too [;)]
Marital Status: 3 partners (currently) in a polycule of 15 (last time I checked, it might be bigger by now). Unmarried (likely to stay that way given polygamy laws *waves fist in air*).
Education: 2 A-Levels, both in Maths. Will hopefully have a degree in something within the next 5 years.
Occupation: Software engineer (I make awful enterprise customer exchange systems). Uni student as of this coming September. Generic foundation year then Electronic & Computer engineering unless I change my mind which is very possible.
Political Ideology: Last time I put "Somewhere a bit to the left I think? I'm not really sure". Now I think the most accurate label would be anarcho-communist. Safe to say I've been going further left for a while.
Religion: Not religious
Interests: Computers (particularly compiler engineering and Linux though I'm pretty cynical of the tech industry at this point), music (producing electronically and playing bass-ily (?)), small keyboards (typing this on a Dvorak Corne keyboard with Kailh Choc Reds but previously used a Niu Mini with Hako Royal Clears), being gay on the internet and other LGBT+ related things, staring into space feeling some combination of gay yearning and contempt for reality (though that's more just a past time than an interest), and cycling (I ride an e-bike with an amusing name).
Favourite Music: Will try anything once. Given I was listening to dubstep and funk around age 14 when your taste kinda sticks, the combination of the two is my kryptonite. The more disgusting the bass faces it induces, the better.
Conlangs: I have a very large pile of abandoned languages (names include Inyi, Dijo, and Akal). The pile will continue to grow (slowly) until I "finish" something that I'm happy enough with to actually use and then use it I will.
Where do you see yourself in ten years?: Hopefully living in my own place with one or more partners and doing something good for society in order to "earn" access to my human rights to food and shelter (money) rather than participating in the morally dubious actions of a profit-driven company under capitalism.
